I love messages! Even if you just want to say hi, I'd love to hear from you. If it's not apparent enough from my username that I love classical music...feel free to talk over Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, ETC, and I'll be very pleased to chat with you about it. Click here to post a new message. I'll always reply on your talk page, unless you don't have a username, so unless you want to have to keep checking back here, it would be a good idea to sign your messages using four tildes (~~~~). Please add new comments at the bottom with a relevant message heading. I archive every 30 message headings...archived talk can be found at the right. And thanks for talking to me!

Thanks to Sango for the design of the archive table, etc. and to Tito for the beautiful colors of this and my userpage. Thanks, guys!

Update: If you are waiting for a reply from me and it's been more than a month, please leave another note, because it's extremely likely that I forgot to reply. Thanks!--ViolinGirl 00:46, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

guten tag

This is just about the easiest to use user page I've ever been on. Frankly, at this rate, I'm surprised you haven't put a dictaphone on it so I wouldn't have to type this! lol.

Just dropping by to say hello. I couldn't find this on your "edit user page" thingy, but the astrix hyperlink after "the Lord wills" leads to just about the oldest (albeit accurat-ist) Engish translation of the Bible there is. If you changed the hyperlink to http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James%204:15;&version=65;, you could get The Message translation. It's a bit longer, but easier to understand - so long as you don't run into any copyright do-da about it. Happy Fiddling. martianlostinspace 21:15, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Checking in...

Hi there Carley! How have you been, other than busy that is? Yes that South African hit was me, I gather your "holiday" was more of a workshop rather than relaxing time off by the beach or whatever. :P I am off break, as far as wikipedia goes, I've been active for the past couple of weeks again. The SAT went really well, but the marks were not as good as I expected. I did really well in English and Verbal (96th percentile) but my Math was rather mediocre (50th percentile). So I'm going to pay a visit to someone we know as the US embassy and talk with them about where I can go with my score, or if I have to take the test again. Other work went nicely, on holiday now and awaiting my marks. I'm going to be kept busy the next few days with and Irish Dance workshop, 4 hours a day, since I'm planning to go to the world champs in Scotland next year. :) It is very hard work... So how is your education going at the moment? I gather you graduated high school, congratulations :). Where are you planning to go from here? All the best (and apologies for the overly long post) -- Banes 16:59, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Wow that is aiming high, best of luck with that, let me know how it goes. :) Yeah, since there are thousands to choose from, me and my mother will talk with this lady and see what I can do. My results are good enough for entrance into most colleges. The main problem is that the US dollar is eight times stronger than the South African rand, so I need to find a way of paying my way or getting some sort of scholarship. The workshop thing for me started today, ga! blisters! But it's all fun. :) When are you going to audition? -- Banes 21:17, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
I am not sure, I have a vague idea though. I'm probably looking for a suburban or small-town college, in a nice setting, although I guess I can't be too choosy :P. The University of Colorado at Boulder is really appealing, but I doubt they'd let me in...I'm going to have to discuss my options and see what happens. :) I am really desperate to move over to the states. I'd move over and join the USAF to learn to fly (what I've always wanted to do) and forget about college for now, but my parents are understandably unkeen (they are of the opinion I'd be shipped off to you know where). It's nice to hear from you, and I hope all goes well for you, (it's 0:30 here now), so goodnight! :) -- Banes 22:35, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Carley, happy belated birthday! You writing in October? Ooh, not so great...I may write again either in October or November, depending on the time I have. I wouldnt worry too much about it, the SAT is a breeze. :P It goes by so fast, it is almost fun. I'm sure you will do well. Study-wise, I've had the sudden idea of becoming an english teacher, no idea why...But I went to the US embassy the other day, for a college presentation, and they are going to advise me to see what I should do. Time will tell. :) Anyway, it's great to hear from you, keep in touch, and enjoy your studying. Cheers -- Banes 14:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your welcome

And a little question. I was not able to include a "talk" link into my signature, putting even the example format: "rgawenda Talk" and checking raw. The "Talk" appeared as non-link. Could you help me with this? -- rgawenda 02:25, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Whoops, happy belated birthday to you too. Hope you're happy at 17, and yes I find messages at the top to be more effiecient. Email me again sometime if you have time. - Bagel7 15:42, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: Your message on my talk page

I'm glad your seventeenth birthday was arguably the best ever! :D Is there anything else you've been up to? And yes, everything's well with me, and I've just rediscovered the joy of article writing. ;) Cheers, Sango123 13:58, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

KJV

Can you name a user with an easier page to navigate? I think you've beaten user:Jimbo. Frankly, I'm surprised you can do this much in wiki, as opposed to html. It stands as an example to users like me who only have a blank page! KJV? Sure, have whatever version is your favourite. I just sometimes wonder - the KJV version is so old that it makes me think... was King James a Roman Governer of the ancient Britain, instead of apparently being a king in the second milennium (yeah, I can't spel). That said, it is accurate, though. --martianlostinspace 09:24, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Peeking in real quick

I know I have you listed among my friends, but I just realised I haven't talked to you since I told you about Chopin's Piano Concerto! (GASP!)

Anyway, just asking how are you doing?…and I realised I forgot to wish you Happy Birthday! But I'm doing it now, so you can count me off. ;) When you turn 18, tell me how you liked being 17 so I can compare it to when I and my older friends were 17… ;)

Before I leave, I would like to recommend Phædriel to you, if Banes hasn't yet. She belongs in Esperanza (she does stress alerts but she isn't a member): she is a sweet, loving and kind Wikipedian who loves everyone.

Good day, and tell me if you can find a piano concerto better than Chopin's 2nd. ;) The one and only Cliff 01:23, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Kao maaku ^^

Hey there! Couldn't help following a trail to see if there was an article for "kao maaku" yet, as you mentioned in your sandbox. From what I noticed on Google, maybe what you're looking for is this part of the Emoticon article? They call it "kao moji" there (a term which also redirects to the Emoticon article). Anyway, maybe "kao maaku" ought to be the same ^_^. Just thought I'd drop you a note (here, since I felt wary fiddling around in your sandbox XD). Weien 02:39, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi There! Can you translate my name in what language you know please, and then post it Here. I would be very grateful if you do (if you know another language apart from English and the ones on my userpage please feel free to post it on) P.S. all th translations are in alpahbetical order so when you add one please put it in alpahbetical order according to the language. Pass this on! Thanks!!! Abdullah Geelah 19:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
 1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
 2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
 3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
 4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
 5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
 6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Weird formating problems concerning your signature...

Hello. I left a message to another user at 1 and somehow your signature got mixed up with my message. This message is now on over one hundred pages (which you can verify by clicking on any of these links below your own here- 2 and I can't delete your signature because I don't know where the html content is....sorry, I'm not very good with this. I'm wondering if you would mind trying to fix this, since probably all of these people are wondering what I'm going on about....Thanks in advance. Musikfabrik 10:36, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

An answer?

Hello. I left a message for you some time ago concerning formating problems concerning your signature. I haven't heard back from you yet and the problem remains; is there any change that you might take five minutes and have a look at this? I'm sorry to bother you with this, but I do not understand how your fancy signature works and I can't fix this myself. thank you in advance Musikfabrik 11:44, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for replying!

I'm really sorry about this, but it is rather a mess, isn't it? I tried to fix it, but I can't find the bug. I'm sort of relieved that you can't find it either, but we should get to the bottom of this, shouldn't we? cordially, Musikfabrik 22:02, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Remember me?

Hey there Carley, long time no see. :) How are things with you? Counting down to the October SAT? Hope the real-life is treating you well, and that your studies are to schedule. :P Just thought I'd pop by and wave. Waves. All the best -- Banes 17:13, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Lol, I thought you'd recognize it. Glad to hear all is well with you at the moment. :) Things are up and down over here :| (leaving/planning to leave a country you love can be rather saddening) but overall pretty good. We've just been in contact with my uncle in the US and he has offered to find us an "immigration attorney" to help process our (hopeful) emmigration plans. Now it looks like my whole family are likely to go along with it, but it is a very long process, so we'll have to see. :) In the mean time I've applied to do a BA in International Studies at the University of Stellenbosch, which is a simply beautiful university in a small leafy country town nearby, I'll find out if (a big if) I get in within a week or so hopefully. In other news I'm busy preparing (rather desperately) for end of year exams and SA Irish Dance champs (my ego swells saying those words :P) next month which will also serve as qualifiers for the world's in Scotland next April. So that's quite exciting. Regards the mop, well to cut a long story short, adminship isn't particularly relaxing, and (as you can see above) things have been really busy and I simply don't need the additional responsibility at the moment. :) Ga! I've babbled too long, sorry for the loooong post. What is the date of your SAT? -- Banes 19:24, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

The problem remains

I'm wondering, if you can't fix your signature, if you perhaps can't (just this once....) replace it with the "old-fashioned" one? I think that this would effectively solve the problem...Musikfabrik 08:17, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.

You left a welcome message on my User talk page last December and I didn't even see it until now. I feel like, well, the way Colonel Jessup replied to the words, "He's been dead seven years, sir." in A Few Good Men. Hope all's well... TJSwoboda 22:10, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
 • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
 • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
 • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
 • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
 • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
 • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Barnstar for copying material

Hello!

I noticed that you gave User:Rushadthomas a barnstar for that user's work on Ron Kind (diff). The text that User:Rushadthomas introduced into that article is copied from Ron Kind's website at the House of Representatives here and pasted into the article here. When a new user introduces large amounts of text into an article it is usually a good idea to check that the material is simply not copied from another website.

Regarding the article on Ron Kind, WP:CV states that the article should be either speedily deleted, or reverted back to a clean revision that does not include any copyrighted material. However, since the material comes from a federal government website it is possible that the material is in the public domain (as work of the United States Government). Since I am not sure whether or not the material is a copyright violation I have left a comment on the talk page. --Oden 07:46, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
