Glad to hear all went well. I actually have been using my rollback today, I became addicted to it. I carried out my first block too. In RL, today has been rather exciting, since a sea kayak/canoe (plastic) we bought recently was taken out to sea. I really enjoyed it, paddling about, although deep, murky water is one of my biggest fears. This, coupled with the fact we were in a Great White breeding ground (there have been three fatal attacks there in this last year), made me feel really scared. It was really cool riding the waves in, until the nose of the canoe dug in and we wiped out badly. So I've had a really nice, sunburnt day. (The temperature here was 35 degrees C, which is 95F.) You know, just this past Sunday our pastor talked about how good desires can become idolatry, and all I could think about was Christian Hedonism, with God (not Mother Wiki) as "the source of our greatest delight" (quoting this site, which I think you told us about ^^). And making Him my dearest friend (John 15:13, as you said) definitely ties into that! Sometimes I find that perceiving God as a friend is actually so much easier than we think it is--after all, here's Someone who speaks the exact same language, uses the same slang, has the same interests, never needs us to clarify our meaning, etc... almost like a custom-built perfect friend (weird way to put it, I know, but ohwell ^^).

About using poetry in "wrestling with God to gain a more thorough understanding of the Scripture," one thing that popped into my mind is a meditation help that my sister uses sometimes as she reads Scripture: illustrating the Bible passage! One example that she put online is here (part of this blog post). Now, if only I could do something like that, in verse ^_^. As for the poetry class, I actually ended up auditing the class because of a scheduling conflict; though, I was definitely in it for the benefits of the course rather than the credits (especially considering how a Poetry Writing course doesn't exactly "count" if I decide to pursue, say, medicine XD). And the class also had the unexpected benefit of forcing me to write poetry almost once a week *cheers*. Re: enjambment, yes, I personally think that "the violin" has more of a... "quick journey to the mastery of the violin" feel, rather than a "hurry!" feel ^_^. And that'd be opposed to the "slow, long, pilgrimage to the mastery of the violin" that might be portrayed in, say, a poem with very long lines and ellipses at the end of each line (which I humbly would not recommend, haha).

Concerning the Bill Gothard AfD page, the comment I was talking about was the one reply to your vote, near the bottom ("Why would a fan of John Piper..."). Ah, that still makes me grin ^^. And yes, I did follow the "To All Hymn Players" discussion thread to the end--it certainly did take an odd twist or two (and always neat to see Stephen Mayhew around, too!). I suppose the bulk of that thread might have fit better under a new topic asking specifically about morality in music, though...

Ok! Time for poetry ^^. As Banes said, "[H]ow beautiful the below poem is[!]" (well, I added the exclamation mark in meself, laughs). But I definitely agree; and not to discount "the violin," but this piece is a visible jump "further up and further in," simply with stronger writing (e.g. like including a line not just because "it works," but because it really says what you want it to say). As for your not being sure of whether or not you like the last/third stanza, I can say that I do like it very much (even to the extent where I might say that it's my favorite of the three; which I'll explain in a second). As the three verses stand currently, I see it as (1st stanza) introduction of the problem and the Solution, then (2nd stanza) continuing to describe the solution, and finally (3rd stanza) summarizing with why exactly we need the Father, His blood, and the Living Water (which is to gain a spirit fresh and true). Often, I guess, the last verse of a poem tends to become the "cap" to the rest of the poem, even if it isn't meant that way (after all, it's the last thing your readers see before they sigh happily). Now, going a little further into the poem, I think I should bring up a somewhat obvious concept I figured out at the expense of many awkward poems: writing the way you speak is often the best way to go. For example, instead of a line like, "Several hours travel had our bodies feeling numb," a cleaner paraphrase might be, "Our bodies felt numb after several hours [of] travel" (though the former is more rhythmic and may end in a more "rhymable" word, how likely are we to say something like, "the pulling of my wisdom teeth made me very exhausted"? ^^). While this idea doesn't apply to all styles of poetry, I think it might help clarify some lines in our case ^_^.

No sin is unforgivable / Iniquity so bleak, / But that my Father’s tender love / Erases every streak. With this stanza, my main thing was trying to sort out its "raw" meaning (while the implied meaning is very clear ^_^). What does "But that my father's tender love erases every streak" really mean? Perhaps your meaning was more along the lines of, "No sin is unforgivable, nor iniquity too bleak, that my father's tender love cannot erase every streak" (which isn't as rhythmically perfect, but maybe makes more grammatical sense?). Does that sort of make sense? (I'd better move on for now, due to family members urging me to go to bed ^^).

His grace is like a bloody sea, / To drink I often go. / It satisfies my deepest thirst / And washes white as snow. This is simply excellent ^^. Notice how (particularly) nice the very "conversational" first and third lines sound :D. The only thing that I might mention here is the possibility of the first two lines' bringing up the image of the 2nd plague of Exodus, but since they need to be that way in order to work with the third and fourth lines (and that image could just be me), it nevertheless works well as it is ^^.

And... that pretty much covers what I have to say *grin*. All in all, I really like it, and I firmly believe that the more we write, the better we get, which is plain to see with this work. Oh, and lovely topic choice, too, I might add ^_^. Anyway, definitely let me know if you have any questions or requests for clarification (after all, this stuff is coming out of my head of all sources XD). And wow, "Critiquer Emeritus"! I'm honored (makes me feel like I really need to get a serious userpage up so I can reciprocate :D). Then again, I do very much advocate the idea of getting critiques from all sorts of different people (I mean, why not even start with your brother for a nice, honest opinion? *laughs*), so you can better find the style of poetry that you really like to work with.

Re: "Praise the Lord," yes! Again, congratulations on passing the CLEP, and also on surviving these two days (trials, indeed ^^). And I appreciate your updates on how things are going; in my opinion finding out about the effects of one's prayers gives precisely the same warm feeling as finding out and knowing that people are praying for you. It sounded like the operation went very well, which is great--hopefully the after-effects will be gone soon! As for prayer requests, hm... *thinks* well, I'm currently cruising along on 2 hours of sleep due to a procrastinated assignment, so if it happens to cross your mind throughout the day, my request is, well, that I'll spend more time talking to God and reading His Word (yep, the cure-all! with that down, good sleep schedules will duly fall into place). I'll also be going out of town this weekend (Martial Arts clinic in Ohio, haha), so that should be a busy period of time (promising very little opportunities to wiki).

I actually didn't know that they had a Wikipedia extension, so upon finding that out--well, why not? I added it in :D. I also have the Google toolbar installed, so I'd had two Google quick searches for a while now (as well as the "g search" thing ^^). Handy when one's in a mouse-using mode, indeed! (Oh, and a big thanks for mentioning "F6" as a shortcut--I didn't know about that, before, so you've now increased my internet efficiency by 30%! XD). Glad to hear you're doing well! I wish it'd rain here... :( I've had a very nice weekend, spent today playing video games at a friend's house...<irrelevant moaning>sadly, at the end while I was unplugging my computer, I did something really stupid (didnt switch off the mains) and electrocuted myself. I now feel awful because it was a very powerful shock...the doctor told me that if my other hand hadnt been grounded (I was leaning on it) the shock would have been fatal. Kant and other misspelled contractions

*Cheer* Hooray for the birth of a new article! I like what you have so far at the sandbox--a neat little summary of the desiringGod Forgive the Label, But Don't Miss the Truth article, I think? :D By way of help, the only thing I could think of so far was that the "Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysic of Morals" by Kant (in the endnote) seems to be the same thing as his Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals--at least, it redirects to that article. Not that that changes anything really (XD), but I guess now you have the option to link to that should you choose to perhaps expand more on the Kantian vs Hedonistic morality issue.

As for Christian Hedonism in general, I do feel that I ought to read more into what that really means before I'm able to define myself as a fellow hedonist ^^; that is, being very much a "joy in suffering" (Matt. 5:11-12) and "love through sacrifice" (John 15:13) believer, I'm only just starting to see the way those different perspectives mesh. And I guess for starters, there's the Hudson Taylor quote at the very end of the "Forgive the Label" article, where he, "at the end of a life full of suffering and trial, said, 'I never made a sacrifice.'" Trying to Find A Robin Williams Movie

I ended up reaching you because I clicked on the discussion page and clicked on your e-mail from your comment. I have never used wikipedia and don't really know what it is about. I ended up on the website because I did a search for 'robin williams fan club' and this was one of the sites found.

I am trying to find out the name of the Robin Williams movie where he portrays a man who never dies. As people age and die, he stays the same age.

...didnt you notice? I'm doing ok, for the most part. The wikipedia part of that stress has faded, sadly not the RL part *sigh*. Still, its going down, and I'm doing just fine, busy trying to deal with my workload. Are you writing on the 14th? I'm glad to hear you've been keeping well, I presume the wisdom tooth problem has gone away now? I actually did a long Violin practice the other day, only to have my A string snap, rather irritating...But I find it hard, as you say, to practice and work effectively school wise at the same time. Your userpage is beautifull, nice and short, very pretty, and not too many redundant userboxes. Mine needs a lot of work, alas. Its sad all of the conflict over petty things on wikipedia, although, I'm not a huge fan of userboxes myself. Another Esperanzial note...

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Hello, Carley! Sorry about the late reply--though I'm thinking that my replies will tend to be on a weekly basis, with how school and other things have been occupying my time (for one, my mom and I are on a violin-instructor search; I haven't had actual lessons for about six years now o_o). And I expect that you've been very busy lately, as well? Was today your CLEP (in which case I hope it was well ^^), or is that slated for next week?

Thanks so much for your and your church's prayers. Our trip a couple weekends ago was excellent; I safely drove two or three of the hours to Columbus, OH, a drive that took place in just the perfect weather and traffic (80 mph quite a lot of the way ^^). And the Tang Soo Do clinic was a lot of fun, pretty intense (from 9am to 5pm on Saturday), and overall an awesome experience--at one point I even left my (red) belt back at the hotel room, which was embarrassing a wonderful (now that I look back on it XD) lesson in humility.

So yes, I guess I haven't been very vocal on any of your internet homes lately, but I can say that I've been lurking in earnest ^^. Speaking of which, I was happy to discover "Some Left All," of which I've become a fan :D. The way the phrase introduced near the bottom of the first page (A... F... dddd E) seems to... smile, wow, it's just one of those "sigh" moments. Is there any particular inspiration for that piece, or perhaps words that go with it?

Concerning Christian Hedonism, I haven't read very much by Piper--yet. ^^ But from what I've seen, I'll definitely enjoy doing so... stuff like his quote about cancer in his article here make my jaw drop. "The news of cancer has a wonderfully blasting effect on both." ...with that sort of dramatic, unconventional style, except that it's for real! And, as you may have noticed, I haven't been able to add anything to your sandbox yet... -_- right now it's as if there are so many articles out there that are peeping, "Edit me!" yet I can only whisper my apologies, paralyzed by the Everything Else Of Life... or something ^^. But on another motif, I have in general been keeping an eye on your sandbox, and finding that the things from your "stuff to think through" have begun to frequent my mind, as well (other than the Siciliano, that is ^^--my violinistic thought of choice is the Spring Sonata :D).

Aha, and I see that you were able to take a look around Violasong.com! ^_^ I'm glad you benefited from her blog, I often have to tell her that she doesn't give herself enough credit for what she has to say ^^. And as for feminism, yes, she has in the past years somewhat been our "resident feminist" so to speak XD, but, as we can see from her blog, she's moving away from the "anything boys can do women do better" view (hm, I should check with her to see if she's okay with me saying all of this ^^). And inevitably, from living in the same house as her, that's something I've been thinking about as well, haha (though perhaps from the opposite direction). Wonders: "Spirit of the law concerning fathers as homemakers? But it's a bit early to be thinking about that, I say. ^^

As for the particular flavor of humor I use when writing to my sister or other people against whom I have no defenses, well, ^_^. Sorry if that caught you off guard... and to explain "But he that sinneth against me WONGETH his own soul," "wongeth" is a nick-name that Victoria occasionally uses for me (if you glanced at the emails I received while at String Workshop, you might have noticed that they were all labeled with ATT: Weien "Fiddle-playin'-riddle-sayin" Wang, or Weien "Wonton-a-thon" Wang, to name a couple). Ah, I'm a blessed brother. XD

On the poetic note, first of all, best wishes for your inspiration! ^^ Oh, and "bloody sea"--though I think your dad's comments about the phrase may have to do with what I mentioned earlier, in the end I think that it depends on what particular emotions you'd like to evoke from the reader--and possibly, it could be several different feelings. They say that poetry tends to have multiple levels of meaning (e.g. the Song of Solomon perhaps depicting not just the relationship between a particular man and woman, but also between Christ and the Church), and some poets embrace it when people interpret their poetry different than how they intended (not so sure about that part, myself). So sanguinary as the word "bloody" may be, well, we're not tame poets ^_^.

And thank you for the mouse! Actually, I did notice it, which I think I said in an addition to (at the very end of) this comment... my apologies if that went unnoticed! ^^ The "story" does indeed refer to a mouse, but I try to throw off the reader by mentioning a keyboard with it, earlier on ^^. So you're right on both accounts XD. Regarding the regional seminars, we're currently not sure about which one we'd go to; logically it'd be Indy (only a 3-4 hour drive away) but since my parents may try to kill two birds with one stone by going to the aforementioned martial art's World Championship and the Sacramento regional in one go, we might do that instead (that is to say, they're both in early July, and it could work, despite the fact that the cities that the two are hosted in are 400 miles apart). Actually, we did nearly the same thing last year, as well; first going to the Indy regional (my sister and I did the CI), then visiting relatives in Virginia for a week, and finally dropping me back off in Indy for the String Workshop, for an exhausting total of a month out of town.

Ok, to finish up... on a re:v.com note, I hope your lesson with Vladimir goes well, that sounds like it'll be very interesting! And would it be out of place to say that Petia sounds just amazing? I mean, had a table spread? Talk about reasons to move to New York! XD Finally, thanks for the news about Candace Walsh... the pain, I mean... sigh. Ah, Lord.

Hi Carley, great to hear from you!--and I really appreciate your stopping by the other day, even though it was such a busy one (the day of the CLEP). Speaking of which, so sorry to hear about Western Civ II... though, your faith in God's control in the midst of it all has been inspiring to me. I mean, crediting test performance to the Law of averages or the Regression toward the mean principle is fun, but sometimes I forget to focus on everything as part of a Master plan. Anyway, I just wanted to write a shorter note for now (official reply to follow ^^), to touch on a couple things mentioned above.

One is the Tang Soo Do clinic; they just posted some pictures from it on the region website, one of which has a very candid me standing in the corner (that's my dad, center ^^). Oh, and without my belt! How convenient XD. So I thought that that little illustration would be fun, and that it was only fair that I shared it with you ^_^ (as well as any other User talk:ViolinGirl watchers, but ohwell :D).

The other thing was re: Candace Walsh. Not that this is too important or anything, but the recent addition of their About Our Family page confirmed my wondering if one of her brothers had been on my Sound Foundations team a few years back... so I guess that made it that much more personal to me. Glad to hear you're doing ok, I too am fighting laziness (a very big problem for me), but I'm doing very well thank you, although the work is quite time consuming. Sadly (or maybe not so sadly? :) ) I've been harldy busy at all on the wiki, power cuts (see Sango's poetry section for an example of one of my evenings) and low bandwidth... Well I'm pushing for it, as I'd like to. However it really depends on what happens down here, since SA isnt in the best state right now (we just had our car stolen for the second time) and if things get worse. So the option is open, but I really don't know how likely right now. If I was to move I'd probably learn to fly with the air force, since flying is a major interest. Hi there, well, this is me, just logged out. :) I've been away from wikipedia for a while, I need to take a break and get back to the real world. But I was told I had a new message so I came back for a moment :) . (I darent log in because I may fall prey to my watchlist and my admin buttons and then I'm hooked again.) I've been very well, keeping up with the work and such, and what about you? Yeah I dont know about the moving thing, from what I've heard, I would really like the US, sadly there are one or two people who are against the idea... I'm not sure if it will happen or not, but I sure hope it does :). Either way, I plan to live there at some stage. If we were to move, Colorado is a possibility, I've been investigating Boulder, and it looks good. Another alternative is the Eastern Seaboard, as I have family there. Perhaps Pennsylvania, New Hampshire (too cold!) or somewhere else around there. But its all really just ideas.

The Four Pennies / General Advice

Can I ask for your help on two matters.

Firstly, I have been adding to the "The Four Pennies" page, greatly expanding the information regarding the UK 1960s band of that name. Unfortunately, the page is now mixing up the USA and UK data, and I think it needs a "disambiguation" adding. I am not experienced enough to know how to do this, and would appreciate your assistance.

Secondly, I am currently replying to any messages I get via the e-mail links, as I'm unable to discover how to easily respond via the 'talk' facility. This is both frustrating, and rather amateurish. (Two entries for my tombstone, probably).

I am aware that you may have more interesting things to do, than to help a poor aged fool such as I. But, you did offer.

I have to say that fall in the US is truly spectacular, as autumn here isnt anything at all, since we have hardly any trees which has leaves which turn red (there is a name for that, but I've forgotten)... :) So I can't wait to get back to the US one day.
