[edit] Violet gland in dogs?

Do dogs ever have this gland? I can find no reference to it, but there are very few wolf features which never occur in dogs.--Richard New Forest 18:29, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Some further research... It seems it's normally called the supracaudal gland, and although some sources ([1]) say dogs don't have it, it is clear from others ([2], [3]) that they do. I wonder if some dogs don't have it – is it perhaps an adult wolf feature which does not develop in more neotenous dog breeds? --Richard New Forest (talk) 22:57, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
