[edit] Yellow variant

I have found a number of wood violets (I assume!), that have light yellow flowers, rather than purple. I've never seen the two colors on the same plant, so it's possible they're different species, but the leaves, roots, and stems of both types appear (at least to my unpracticed eye) to be identical. I'd guesstimate the yellow variant comprises around 5% of the voilets in my backyard. Are these another invasive species, or a more infrequent native species... or are they a natural color variant of the normal purple? Anyone know? If they're a natural variant, mention thereof (as well as of any other known color variants) should be included in the article. It seems trivial perhaps, but they're called "purple violets", even if perhaps they aren't always purple... Tomertalk 05:31, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
