Vintenar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A vintenar was a leader of twenty infantry in medieval England. The infantry would have been raised by sherrifs, and have been paid from the royal coffers. They served the king in times of need, and were a medieval draft on freemen who were not knights.[1]
