Vintage snowmobile

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vintage Snowmobiles are generally defined as snowmobiles made from the late 1960s until the early 1980s. There is a large following of vintage sled enthusiasts who restore, ride and even race these older machines. Machines older then the mid 1960's are often placed in the antique category and have a significant following as well.

Today vintage shows and races are held from Washington State to Maine, all over Canada and even in some European countries that have snow, such as Sweden and Finland. The Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, Wisconsin holds an annual show around Labor Day of each year, and one of the biggest shows is held in Waconia, Minnesota each year. Vintage snowmobiles have raced at the World Championship Snowmobile Derby for many years.

Vintage Snowmobiling as a hobby saw a huge rise in popularity in the early 2000s largely due to the Internet and a web site called vintagesleds.com. The Vintage Snowmobile Club of America was formed in the early 1990s and has also contributed greatly to the hobby.
