Vinnell-Brown & Root is a joint venture of Vinnell Corporation (Northrup Grumman) and Brown & Root Services (Halliburton) who provide base maintenance support (known as the TBMC - Turkey Base Maintenance Contract) to the U.S. Air Force within the Republic of Turkey.
[edit] History
Turkey has had a Base Maintenance Contract since 1958. Initially managed by the Tampane Company; follow on contractors included Boeing Services International (BSI) and Holmes and Narver, Services. VBR initially won the contract for support in 1988 and has successfully rebid on the contract ever since. The current contract was awarded in 2003 and is scheduled for rebidding in 2009.
For many years, starting in the 1960's, VBR also had contracts for the Modernization of the Saudi-Arabian National Guard.
[edit] Mission
The functions of VBR are directly related to the United States' support of Turkey as a NATO ally. The company is consistently recognized by both the U.S. and Turkish representatives as vital to the success of all concerned.
