[edit] Southern vs. northern names
Hi, thanks for your comments, which are very good. If you believe there is a more "neutral" or "standard" name for particular dishes, let's discuss them at those pages. For che xoi nuoc, if this is a mostly southern dish, as I understand it is (centering around Cholon), I think a southern romanization is appropriate, for the same reason that dim sum is given in Cantonese romanization and jiaozi is given in northern. Sometimes there are "competing" northern and southern names, which makes it hard to choose. Although southern Vietnam is the "new land," some foods are more typical of the south, having arisen there fairly recently, or introduced there by Chinese. In some cases, the southern name is a corruption of the northern, or a "wrong" name according to original Vietnamese understanding, but this is also the case for some northern food/dish names. By the way, cơm rượu and rượu nếp are not the same food. Badagnani (talk) 07:39, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Are you saying that bánh trôi nước is exactly the same as chè xôi nước? "Bánh trôi nước" is not mentioned in the chè xôi nước article. Badagnani (talk) 07:39, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
