User talk:Vina

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For comments about actual editing that I've done in en, leave it here, otherwise please talk to me on my Chinese Wiki Talk Page for a more prompt response. Either English or Chinese are fine, I'm fluent in both. Be sure to leave a link to where you actually want me to respond to if you don't have a Chinese wiki login. Oh yeah, and sign your comments. This is my talk page. I will remove and delete if your comment is unsigned.

If you are here to talk about my interwiki bot on the English wiki, User:Vina-iwbot, just leave a message in English on my Chinese Wiki Talk Page. Again, please make sure you leave a link to where you would like me to respond to unless you'll watch my Chinese talk page for responses.

[edit] Re-listing forgotten VfD's

(Copied from my talk page)

I think you're right to re-list them, Vina. In fact, I think you're doing a major good deed for the project by doing so, and it's great to see anyone interested in doing things right when the VfD page itself is under such histrionic attack. I think the only possible change is to indicate in the header that it is an old listing on which no consensus was reached. We have a couple on the list right now that are going to end up that way. I think there is a CMS Planner or something on the list right now upon which no one has voted. At the end of 5 days, if it has only one or two votes the cleaning Admin will not really know what to do. Thank you for the good work. Geogre 14:01, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Message about your bot

I realize that you requested that I leave any messages about your bot on your Chinese talk page. However, I am having difficulty in signing in on your Chinese talk page. I tried to create an account in the Chinese wiki, but I don't know whether I succeeded, because I don't know Chinese.

Your bot is occasionally forgetting to sign in, and so is sometimes making Interwiki links that say that they are from User:71.241.248.89. See the history of edits to Pope Pius XII. Please take a look. Robert McClenon 16:52, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your attention to the problem with your bot. Robert McClenon 22:15, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vina-iwbot and computer and video games by year

The computer and video games by year categories' interwiki links are managed by the template cvg year interwiki. Please have your bot remove it's edits to those categories and tell it to no longer update them. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 01:51, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bot activity

I was going over the list of bots and noticed that Vina-iwbot (talk · contribs) has not edited in a very long time. Is this bot still active and if not, would you object to it being de-flagged? Please post your comments to Wikipedia_talk:Bots/Requests_for_approval#Dead_bots since this is a rather widely-posted message. MBisanz talk 02:28, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your bot removed some functioning interwiki links

Hello Vina, I unblocked per your request. Please consider if you can restore the interwikis that were incorrectly removed. If it's not obvious how to do that, editors at WP:VPT may be able to help. AWB is a possibility. EdJohnston (talk) 15:55, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nice bot!

Your bot is taking my job as inter-wiki connector!
