V.I.N.T.A.G.E 1p Indie Clothing For Hipster Scouts was originally founded by a British collective of post-graduates in 2004 allowing students from the faculty of Arts & Humanities of York St John College (now York St John University) to sell second-hand clothes & goods without them having to work full-time to fund their studies.
This allowed current students to sell their art and textiles, to a worldwide market along via the accessible popularity of eBay, which paralleled the 'Generation X' contemporary mainstream interest in thrift and charity shop consumerism, with the celebrity interest in vintage items, and the cultural movements such as the ballroom and salsa dance scenes prevalent on the BBC that have culminated in a large demand for vintage clothing and accessories of almost all types.
