Vincent Chung was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 1, 1988. He got his first taste of karate at age 5 under the guidance of Vincent Chung Sr. He later received instruction from the Japan Karate Association (JKA), Illinois Shotokan Karate Club (ISKC), and currently Challenge Karate Club at Purdue University.

Although detractors accuse karate as being a distraction from academic accomplishments, Chung has graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School and is now attending Purdue University. He is working towards a degree in Economics and Finance.
