Vina Kay was born and raised January 30, 1986,in Staten Island, New York. She has been singing since the age of 5; usually singing along with her idols, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Mariah Carey. She also cites Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, Alicia Keys, Keyshia Cole, Mary J. Blige, Ciara and Beyonce among her favorite artists and influences. She’s been in plays/musicals, talent shows and dance shows whenever they arose, beginning in the 3rd grade. In her early adulthood, Vina Kay attended SUNY Albany where she was apart of the dance troupe "KNEMESIS" where she further developed her innate dancing skills. Shortly after her older sister’s untimely death, Vina Kay met producer Mel-o.D.(www.myspace.com/melodsbeats, through a mutual friend, and began to collaborate when given the oppurtunity to perform in Bodog’s Battle of the Bands (summer 06). Although they only made it to the second round, Vina Kay has continued to develop herself as an arist under the coaching of producer Mel-o.D. Vina Kay recently performed in a Power 105.1 showcase at Harlem’s reknown Revival Bar&Lounge. (Feb 18). Vina Kay looks forward to doing more widescale shows and breaking into the music industry.
