Talk:Vinea
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've added "Hibernation" to the list of key Vinean technologies. But perhaps it should be renamed to suspended animation or cold sleep? Secondly, doesn't their universal translators work according to some kind of telepathy? If yes, it should be mentioned.--Peter Knutsen 00:57, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture?
Where is this picture from? I'm an avid reader of the series, but this picture is unfamiliar. Is it endorsed by either Leloup or Dupuis? Moreover, wouldn't a picture of an actual Vinean (most preferably one of Khany and Vynka) be more in place in this article, rather than a picture of their planet for which an article is planned? -- Bakabaka 11:32, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Magnetic phisiology
I do not remeber reading anywhere that the Vinean's physiology is magnetic. If it were, I would expect that their biological and medical technologies (e.g. the magnetically induced hibernation used so frequently) would not have any effect on the Earthlings, who most certainly have biological physiology. -- Bakabaka 11:35, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Exact distance?
The article gives the Earth-Vinea distance as 'about 3,000,000' km. Reference from both my copy of 'Les 3 soleils de Vinéa', 'Trio in het Onbekende' (very early Dutch printing) and Triangulum Galaxy confirm that it's actually about 2.5 mln. I went ahead and changed the figure, but if anyone can come up with a convincing reason to revert it, please let me know. -- Bakabaka 22:26, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

The result of the debate was Move. —Wknight94 (talk) 03:46, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Requested move
Strong agree. The page sould be 'Vinea', with 'Vinean' and 'Vineans' linking to it, just like would be the case with a 'regular' nationality -- 'Russian' or 'Russians' will link to 'Russia'. -- Bakabaka 15:22, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quote about the blue Nivea girl
As recentely removed, and taken from Yoko Tsuno
[edit] Trivia
According to the author, when he was a child he had read an ad of Nivea cream, misreading it as Vinea. Because the poster was old and discolored, only the blue had remained, a girl on the poster was all blue. Leloup thus believed that this cream changed the color of the skin in to blue. He recalled all this when he built the Vinean universe.
This quote is taken from an addendum to l'Alchimiste de Bruges. I guess that's proof enough to state that it's true, but this is only a primary source. A secondary source, alas, I got none. -- Bakabaka 19:24, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sunburn
However, it is understood throughout the series that Vineans cannot sun-burn because their pale blue skin is more resilient than that of humans. -- as was added to the article by user:Mary.fantastica. Could you give a source for this? I don't seem to remember the fact... -- Bakabaka 11:00, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
