ESPN Best Test Team template
Hi. It's very good to see someone new taking an interest in cricket. There's a fairly lively Cricket Project within Wikipedia (see WP:CRIC) which you would be very welcome to join. You'll find there are plenty of places where you can make a real impact. One of the continuing discussions on the project talk page has been about the number of templates that have been appearing on the article pages for prominent cricketers, and I have raised the ESPN Best Test Team template there to see what the consensus is on whether it should remain or not. Please go there and have your say. And I hope you'll find other things there that you'll want to contribute to. Johnlp 20:04, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Harbhajan Singh
Hello Kalyan. Thanks for your work on the Harbhajan page. IT is currently nominated to be a featured article at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Harbhajan Singh. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 22:51, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Ikshvaku dynasty
Hi Vimalkalyan! I have not been able to find information on this dynasty, so if you want to take over the article and improve it, that's great. I'm mostly working on articles like Hoysala architecture, Vijayanagara Empire, and am now working on Western Chalukyas and various sub articles for these, so I pushed this article aside in my mind. I couldn't find good sourcing on this dynasty so I neglected it. I don't know much about this area of Indian history anyway. It is fine with me if you can make it a better article. Good luck with it! Sincerely, --Mattisse 13:26, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Can you please confirm the years of his first term as the selector. I think he was one of those who selected the team for the 1983 WC. Tintin 12:37, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

DYK nom on Kapil Dev as Indian National Cricket Coach
Hello,
Thanks for creating article on Kapil Dev as Indian National Cricket Coach. Just for your information, I have nominated a DYK on this article, by having the following hook.
- ...that Kapil Dev, when he was Indian National Cricket coach, broke down in an interview on BBC's Hard Talk with Karan Thapar in 2000?
Thanks, - KNM Talk 03:24, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Also, a public domain or free image of Kapil Dev would be great , especially if it is of the interview. Thanks. - KNM Talk 03:25, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Hello Kalyan. I have done some cleanup on the article [1] so that it conforms with the Neutrality policy so that it can be displayed on the front page. You have made many good contributions, and it looks as though you want to stay here. That's great! I have to point out a few things about your style that you need to change - because you indicated on the featured article candidacies of Harbhajan and Gilchrist that you wanted to model some Indian bios on these articles and perhaps get them to featured article status
- Always use capital T in "Test", and if you are referring to a certain Test, also use caps - "First Test", "Second Test"
- In accordance with the Wiki manual of style, I unlinked your headings in the sections so that they are no longer blue. I also changed many things like "Coach", "Cricket", "National", "Runs" and "Innings" to lowercase as they are not proper nouns, unless it is the name of an organisation like Bharatiya Janata Party, Board of Control for Cricket in India etc.
- I unlinked many things. The first time you mention Sachin Tendulkar etc, write out his full name, and afterwards you refer to him as Tendulkar, without using his first name and not repeatedly linking it. Some players are known by first name, eg, Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Kapil, so in those cases, refer to them by first name, after the first mention, without linking.
- I removed the use of "Azhar" as it is a nickname and in an encyclopedia we must use his proper names; I also removed informal language like "bookies" and "down under" as they are not approparite for an encyclopedia.
- I removed statements like "India's second innings made the coach proud" and "To say that the cricket fraternity was shocked that a highly-regarded leader like Hansie Cronje was involved in match-fixing, is an understatement" and "is forever etched in the memory of people" and "With the travails of the season, it was no surprise that" and "India's prodigal son had come through his ordeal unscathed" because they appear to not be in accordance with policies like WP:WEASEL, WP:PEACOCK and because commentary and editorialising is not supposed to be used in articles.
- I also removed excessively strong adjectives and hyperbole like "rocked", "crashed",
Please don't take this as an insult - you have made many good contributions of information to Wikipedia - When I started, I also made artiles which did not conform to Wikipedia policies. It is just that it is good to get into good habits, so that you do not have to fix up the articles in the long run. It took me about 30 hours to clean up Ian Thorpe for FA because I did not read the manual of style before I wrote it. Keep up the excellent work, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:00, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Well done, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:36, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Karam Singh
Karam Singh has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2007 March 14/Articles as a possible copyright problem. Could you have a look at the discussion there and comment? As I understand it, the Right to Information Act does not put the contents on government websites into the public domain like the the US. Thanks in advance, Angus McLellan (Talk) 14:55, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I am sorry! Silly man that I am, I didn't check the dates. I see that this is a new article created just the other day. I apologise for the confusion. Still, comparing our article and the http://indianarmy.nic.in/ one, they are rather similar. In fact, a number of sentences are identical. I appreciate that paraphrasing things is not easy, and that memorable phrases can be copied without even realising it. However, it does seem that the Karam Singh article needs to be rewritten somewhat so that it is not so similar to the Indian Army one. If you'd like me to try it, please let me know. Very best wishes, Angus McLellan (Talk) 15:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Lal_Bahadur_Shastri_Stadium
Hi. Good work there. I changed mostly formatting style. Usually when a number is less than ten, it is written in words, and when it is greater than ten, it is written in digits. Apart from some reason, people seem to use "2" and "5" when they talk about runs even though it is less than 10. Secondly, I see that you keep on referring to Tendulkar as Sachin. I'm pretty sure that he is supposed to be known by his last name, unlike, eg, Sikh Singhs etc, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 04:12, 10 April 2007 (UTC). Apart from that it was good although I had to remove multiple links to the same page and multiply referring to players by their full name repeatedly. Tarikonda Venkamamba
A tag has been placed on Tarikonda Venkamamba, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Fyre2387 (talk • contribs) 19:12, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
- The effort is great, but Wikipedia policy doesn't really allow for articles with no content. This won't stop you for recreating the article when you have content for it, though.--Fyre2387 (talk • contribs) 19:18, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Tirumala Venkateswara Temple
Hello Vilmalkalyan, you have made a lot of good changes to this article in the past few days. I especially like the photograph you added of the temple. Nice job. :-) Gouranga(UK) 13:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Your message
I'm afraid that I didn't really follow what you were saying, but it seemed to include the claim that, because other articles use non-standard formatting that goes against the Wikipedia:Manual of Style, then it's OK for this one to do so. It isn't, I'm afraid. Rather, the others should be corrected too.
When editing, could you also try to make sure that spaces, punctuation, and capitalisation are correct, and avoid vague and possibly PoV terms like "veteran"? Thanks. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 06:40, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Telugu text
Hello. You said;
- i noticed that you have removed the telugu translation in the page of Venkateswara. Also noticed it in one more page - Bhisma. is it OK to leave multiple lang translations in there? if it is against Wikipedia policy, i am ok with the removals else i think it is good to have these in as many main langs as possible. please let me know. Kalyan 18:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
I don't know of nay clear and agreed policy statement about multiple language translations. I do know that it has been discussed regularly before, and that it is standard practice to minimise the use of text in other script; some people are opposed to having any non-English text without good reason. You may want to ask elsewhere about previous discussions. As far as I am concerned, it is only appropriate to have such when it is necessary for reference, and one such non-Latin script instance will do. Hence the tendency to use Devanagari rather than other scripts, though of course Telugu may be appropriate for many things, e.g., for geography and history of AP. Imc 20:44, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Vaishnavism
Hello Kalyan - I did not know about those details regarding the type of worship in Tirumala. If your source confirms this then maybe we should replace it with an image of another temple for the sake of accuracy. I thought it made a better intro picture than just having a banner. Thanks for checking up on this one. Best Wishes, Gouranga(UK) 14:40, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

List of ODI Awards for Sachin Tendulkar
Your article List of ODI Awards for Sachin Tendulkar would need stylistic fixing to be appropriate for an FLC. See The Manual of Style for more information. For example, you shouldn't have links in headings. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 20:57, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Bill O'Reilly
Hey, thanks for your comments on the above article's FAC. I think I've addressed all your comments, you can see my individual responses at the FAC. Let me know if there's anything more I can do to ensure your support. The Rambling Man 13:10, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- I've amended the wording of the 1939/1938 confusion, hope that it suits. As for List of ODI Awards for Sachin Tendulkar candidate for FL then I don't see why not. I'll review it properly in due course, but please let me know as soon as you nominate it so I can offer support. All the best, and thanks for comments on Bill once again... The Rambling Man 14:41, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've had a quick look your Sachin ODI list, I'd recommend a peer review now following by FLC in a week or so. Let me know when I can help. The Rambling Man 14:46, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I have copied your questions and concerns to the FAC discussion page as a seperate section. Hope this is ok with you. Sometimes, other reviewers may not like side discussions. thanksDineshkannambadi 23:14, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Kalyan. Thanks you for your valuable comments on the Itanium FAC. I have modified the article in response to each of your eight comments. If you have the time please take a look. The logo/picture situation is less than Ideal, but until we can get a non-copyrighted picture of an Itanium 2, the change I just made is the best I can do. -Arch dude 17:16, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Paasuram
Thanks for your comments. can you tell me how to upload to wiki source. is it like image uploading. Reason for uploading paasuram is that many people dont know about Divya Prabhandam written by Alwars which is very important for vaishnavites especially south india. The paasurams which was written are considered to be very simple in language as well as in meaning. it is very difficult to memorise 4000 paasurams written. but it is easy to memorise few which is easy understandable.
could you suggest me on this paasuram memorizing because i have many easy memorizable paasurams based on divya desams. --—Preceding unsigned comment added by Raji.srinivas (talk • contribs)
