Vilppula

Vilppula is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality has a population of 5,457 (2005) and covers an area of 571.26 km² of which 99.90 km² is water. The population density is 10.5 inhabitants per km². The work force is mainly dividied in industry and service, these accounting for 50 and 39 percent of total workforce. The population is expected to fall by 40 people by 2010.

Kolho village in Vilppula is located north to centrum. Another village, Pohjaslahti, is located north-east from the Vilppula centre.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
