Villnöß (Italian: Funes; Archaic (1070AD): Volnescis or Volnesse, also Valnez or Vulnez) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 80 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 30 km northeast of the city of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,433 and an area of 81.2 km².[1]
The municipality of Villnöß contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Colle (Koll), San Giacomo (St. Jakob), Santa Maddalena (St. Magdalena), San Pietro (St. Peter), San Valentino (St. Valentin) and Tiso (Teis).
Villnöß borders the following municipalities: Brixen, Klausen, Lajen, Urtijëi, San Martin de Tor, Santa Crestina Gherdëina and Feldthurns.
