Villetoureix is situated by the proximity of Ribérac by the Dronne, along with Périgord. The villages constitutes the hamlets and settlements of La Pouyade, la Borie, Mayac and la Dérame. The main town is situated by the hills of the Dronne.

The first traces of inhabitants were in the Gallo-Roman times, later, the village was developed around the 17th century and the construction of the châtea named La Rigale.
