Villafranca Tirrena is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 180 km east of Palermo and about 12 km northwest of Messina. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,921 and an area of 14.3 km².[1]
The municipality of Villafranca Tirrena contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Serro, Divieto, Castelluccio, Castello, and Calvaruso.
Villafranca Tirrena borders the following municipalities: Messina, Saponara.
