From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi, "Villafanuk" and welcome to Wikipedia. A few tips for you:

I'm glad to see someone developing the University of Birmingham article. However, a number of the articles you have added recently have been listed on Wikipedia:Copyright problems as they have apparently been copied from other websites. Please would you review the relevant part of our copyright policy before contibuting any more articles like these. Thanks --rbrwrˆ 21:57, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia:Naming conventions (names and titles). Robert Walpole should not be moved to Sir Robert Walpole (nor to Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Orford, for that matter). Please read that page before making any further page moves dealing with people's titles. ugen64 21:45, Sep 14, 2004 (UTC)

You have uploaded copyright images which belong to me. You are not the owner so why have you put a released into the Public Domain notice on my work?

See Image:Trinity_road.jpg and Image:Holte_end.jpg

[edit] Images

Please stop uploading images until you have gone back and provided a decent image description page for every image you have uploaded. This includes an informative, descriptive, and wikified caption, and more importantly information on the image's source and copyright status. Note that typing "public domain" is no good, they must be tagged so that they fall into categories that can be kept track of. Please read image copyright tags. Some of your images even have the caption "no copyright information at source" which is not acceptable at all, as there doesn't have to be a copyright notice on something for it to be owned by someone: you have to assume copyright restrictions unless otherwise stated. If you have uploaded any copyrighted images please have them deleted immediately by notifying an admin. I would ask you again to review every image you have uploaded, as you are unknowingly creating a lot of work for the people who have to go round clearing up after you. If you have any questions about any of this feel free to ask. Thanks. — Trilobite (Talk) 11:22, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] CC image attribution

Howdy! Whilst editing, I came across Image:Eden.jpg, which you uploaded, specifying the license as Crown Copyright. However, this license requires attribution. Since you've not given a source, I've replaced the tag with a fair use rationale for now. However, if you can remember where you found the image, can you please update the page with the information. Happy editing! GeeJo (t)(c) • 10:37, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:FA_Cup_Winners.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:FA_Cup_Winners.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Walter H. Price

Hello there. I noticed that you had formatted this incorrectly, so I fixed it. Downy 12:49, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Greatest/Notable

I actually agree with you - that greatest players sounds better - but there has been huge discussion on this over at WikiProject Football, and also on the Villa discussion page, and to stop edit wars and arguments it was decided that, unless the list of plkayers conforms to a Greatest Players poll, it should be re-named notable players. It's also worth noting that WikiProject Football has kind of decided that only players who have played more than 100 games for a club should be included, except in very exceptional circumstances. Thanks Superlinus 19:46, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Villain => Villan

Thanks for the uncorrection. It is necessary to make these changes one at a time so as to avoid fixing the special cases that should not be fixed.

[edit] Villa Quote

Do you happen to have a source for the following quote you added: [1] to Villa Park, England?

If not, it will be removed soon. Thanks. --Ali'i 15:55, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

OK, managed to find the original autobiography now, so I've added a reference.

Cheers Villafanuk 10:28, 23 March 2007

That's great. Mahalo. --Ali'i 15:00, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aston Villa FC

Thanks for your comments.

I agree, it's a tough one - football clubs do not fit into neat decades and perhaps we need to use a better general rule for all. Perhaps Pre-WWI, inter-war, and then a few more to Premiership Years? Decades don't work, you're probably right there, but my personal view is that we need to find a decent standard for ALL clubs and then stick to them. Sadly, I think we'll never manage it! All the best, though, and I'll keep on thinking! Gretnagod 02:49, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it's a tricky one - in the case of Villa, the club achieved most of it's success pre-WWI, so naturally there's more to say for that period than the same period for say Liverpool, who were a minor club at that time. I think the fact that football clubs developed at different rates and all have a unique history means that it would be a mistake to try and straight-jacket their histories into a set formula. At the same time it's always important to keep them as unbiased as possible whilst getting the story across to the reader in the most interesting way. Villafanuk 10:15, 23 March 2007

[edit] Villa

Yes well Aston Villa deserves it the greatest club in the world! I just think we need to get the rest of the articles attached to it up to the same standard! Anything you or I could do would be good as I think theres only a few tweaks needed! Thank you once again! (Everlast1910 18:51, 29 July 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Villa Park photo!

If you have the one with the cycle track that would be brilliant :) were i thought it was about 1910-20? But if we have another one that's around that period would be great? Thanks again Everlast1910 08:26, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
