Non-notable musician. See the discussion of Lilly Lazer above. RickK 19:31, Aug 14, 2004 (UTC)

  • He's well-known as the frontman, is enormously popular in Europe, has a notable solo career. I'd vote to keep him when I wouldn't vote to keep other members of HIM, as people who don't know the band well might still know/recognize him as its frontman.. Rhymeless 19:40, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Definitely notable. The article needs major clean-up though. Yardcock 21:02, Aug 14, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Non-notable? :) You stupid delete-happy baboons. --Lussmu 23:38, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)
    • You seem eager to make personal attacks, as evidenced on your User page. Why would you bother coming here, if the English Wikipedia is so beneath you? Personal attacks are not acceptable, you might want to rethink your approach.
  • Delete, same reason as Lizzy Lazer. At best, redirect to HIM (band). Content is fannish ephemera: favorite color, favorite food? Come on. Gwalla | Talk 02:49, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Redirect to HIM (band). Wile E. Heresiarch 08:48, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. And don't redirect. "Non-notable"? What an insult to Mr. Valo bbx 10:44, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
    • Why should we care what his favorite color is? RickK 21:28, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)
      • Just remove that part then. Keep the article. bbx 23:49, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • I said my say on the Lilly Lazer discussion above: if some of you insulted fans would like to continue to improve these articles (I see some work has been done), I'll vote after the fact. Bishonen 19:44, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • As I voted on Lilly Lazer, merge into HIM (band) and redirect (and I'm a HIM fan, so this is not a biased vote by a "stupid delete-happy baboon"). —Stormie 00:21, Aug 16, 2004 (UTC)
  • keep (and improve). perhaps the problem with this discussion is that the guy has achieved an encyclopedic level of popstardom, but so far seemingly only outside the U.S. (Oh btw, I'm not a HIM fan at all.) regards, High on a tree 15:37, 16 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. He is a notable musician (I'm also not a fan). The page has to be improved though. --Sac 04:36, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • His sole claim to notability appears to be his membership in the band. The article for HIM (band) still has plenty of room. Merge and redirect until there is a reason to break the main article apart. Rossami 23:44, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

QUEEN OF DARK

It was just to say, again, that I reeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllyyyyyyyy love Ville Valo...I'm not very good at words, but please(my little crow)come to Portugal!

Ville Valo is the one!

Yes, yes, we get it. He's cool and all that. JIP | Talk 17:06, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC) go to Arakansas

Ville Valo is the one!

Listen kids! Like many people, I love HIM i'm not here to claim i am their biggest fan, i'm here to appreciate their music and god given talent! I think most will agree that Ville Valo is a genius, his song writing talents excel above new heights, the music is amazing, i am never away from it, the lyrics are heart felt and believed, not just some manufactured band with no talent. i think everyone should give them a go, love metal is a step forward for music it invites us all, people have opinions about all kinds of music, they either love it or hate it, love metal, ville valo and HIM have changed this, they've provided a grey area, and even townies, God help em can enjoy this great music! keep it free! thanx for listening to blonde bimbo who usually doesn't say squat!

  • HIM are an overrated piece of crap.FACT!Dermo69
  • You know, I was amazed that this article was up for VfD even before I read all this fan worship about him. Ville Valo is the most popular heavy metal musician in Finland, and he has lately become notable in the rest of the world as well. Claiming he's not notable now would be like claiming Jean Sibelius is not notable fifty years ago. I don't like heavy metal music myself, so I'll just say that Valo is a cool guy and a damn fine musician. JIP | Talk 17:14, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Dark Angel: Ville Valo has a beatiful eyes

Spelling

Would people writing about places in Finland please check the spelling before writing about them? There are no places named "Vanilla" or "Olunkyla" anywhere in Finland. They are called "Vallila" and "Oulunkylä". If in doubt, use a Finnish map, not a vague recollection of an overheard conversation from fifteen years ago. JIP | Talk 12:02, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

"William Light"?

What's with the translation of Valo's name to English? I mean, if taken literally, the translation's right, and all that, but what is its encyclopedic value? I don't see any other article about a non-Anglosaxic person providing a translation of their name. JIP | Talk 10:52, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I removed it now. If someone wants it to be in the article i think he or she should explain why. bbx 15:15, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
There's nothing wrong with stating that Ville is the European variant of William, or saying his name means Light. They're just little, near-insignificant facts that are found in all articles in all encyclopedias.Iwhaiwnfi 6:26, 19 June 2006
I second that. Could be interesting to some fans as not everyone speaks this extremely complicated language, Finnish.

Copyvio?

The main part of the article text is a verbatim copy of the Ville Valo page on the Heartagram site. That's where the ridiculously misspelled Finnish place names come from: I thought they were misspelled by the article author, but they're really misspelled by the Heartagram site owner. Should this be marked as a copyvio? JIP | Talk 16:32, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The way the site owner has it is really the draw out of the band, because he had to have the bands permission to make the site a office site. HIM looks over the site to see if it is to their liking then everything need a copyright. So either that is the way it is intended to be or, it was just simple typos.

If you use any of the websites that provide translation from Finnish to English, Ville translates to "Wildness" and Valo means "Light".

Lots of cruft in this article

What exactly is the encyclopedic value of knowing things such as 'His father Kari was a taxi driver at the time of his birth, but would later become a sex shop owner', or the exact time of his birth? Or that 'Valo reportedly learned to walk using the aid of the family pet dog Sami'? This is fancruft pure and simple. - ulayiti (talk) 21:25, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

  • That's what happens when people copy verbatim text from a fan site. JIP | Talk 15:59, 20 August 2005 (UTC)

H.I.M--ANTI-CHRIST????

Been listening to that band lately and just wondering if anyone noticed their ban to band to be an Anti-Christ one. This is kinda why: That Heartagram Symbol,i know that they just made it and it symbolizes Death....but ask some friends and they said it looked liked the symbol for a cult or something...?? Not actually a fan but just curious..so if anyone can shed light on this please do...

That's because the heartagram is a fusion of the pentagram and a heart. A pentagram is the symbol of peaceful Wicca and an inverted one is the symbol of Satanism. Zythe 22:32, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Sorry, but your question was not about the Wikipedia article on Ville Valo. Please don't use Wikipedia as a soapbox. JIP | Talk 10:42, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

All though it is a pentagram fused with a heart, it does not simbiolize a cult. Ville Valo made it to represent love/hate and life/death. It is not Anti-Christ. If you look at his bio. on www.heartagram.com, you will see he is religious, but in his own ways. As you know the heart symbiolizes love, and the pentagram is made to mean "sacred". So in some ways Ville is intending to say "Love is sacred"(this has been brought to my attention by various interviews with Mr. Valo.). He also based it on the theme of his music. It also means the balance of love/death, and hate/love.

-For more information on various subjects email me at Darkrosefire@comcast.net(I will try my best to answer any of your questions.).

It has also been reported that Ville was inspired by the logo of the Mehiläinen Hospital in Helsinki when he created his heartagram symbol. A quick search of this hospital on the web will display the logo. -K

Ville's guest appearance on Two Witches "Saints & Sinners"

The information about Ville Valo playing on Two Witches compilation album "Saints & Sinners" is false. The rumor is something that Ausfahrt Musikverlag invented themselves to sell more records. We have contacted them several times in order for them to remove that information from their homepages and official press releases but to no avail. We apologize for all the inconvenience but it seems that the only way for this rumor to stop is Mr Valo to contact Ausfahrt himself and threaten with legal action. As a band Two Witches, and none of the people involved in the band personally, don't have anything to do with this rumor. We play our own guitars, thank you.

Marko Hautamäki / Two Witches www.twowitches.com

  • Is a member or a former member of your band Karri Kalpio, my former immediate manager? JIP | Talk 18:43, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
    • I wasn't in the band during the early years but I don't think Karri ever played in the band. He's been otherwise involved during more or less the whole time, though.

BTW, the article also mentions that Ville Valo sings on song "Dracula rising". The song in question has appeared earlier on a compilation concentrating on vampire themes. It's a cover version of the main theme in Dracula Rising movie and it is instrumental. No vocals at all ;)

Question

I want to know something:Does Ville has faith in something?

Darkrosefire: He does have faith in something. It may not show, but, God. Yes he has faith in God. And I am sorry but, please do not waste your time by saying you love him. Good looks, and a good voice aren't what makes you love some one. You have to know them, personally, that mean more than looking at their bio. and memorizing it. To truly love some one you must know them personally. ==Answer To Question and more stuff== No he does not have any faith or has any religion. He does not beleive in gods if you go to Youtube.com you can see some interview's with them where he says that he doesn't believe in any of that maybe just lucifer. He also says "Fans don't know me fans think that by reading my Bio that they know who I am. Nobody knows nothing about me and I don't even want anybody to know. I am not a sweetheart nor am i a person who answers to anyone. God, these bitches need to quit thinking that they have lived with me or slept with me." Question; Would you ever consider having any kind of relationship with any of your fans. Ville; what wha what exactly do you mean? well, uummmm aaaa (sighs) ummm well no ahh no aaahh no no because i cannot have a conversation with a fan they just can't carry themselves in a way i would want them to. Discography

These entries were missing information when I cleaned up the Discography section:

  • 1999 Agents collaborations: What sort of collaboration — vocals, lyrics?
  • Thulsa Doom: Was there a recording with this title or did the band just play under this name on one occasion? All I could find was that there's another band by that name, and that there's a "Thulsa Doom version" of the HIM song "Salt In Our Wounds".
  • Support Band von The Skreppers: Same as above—unclear whether this was a recording or a performance.

I couldn't find any of this information, but maybe someone else can add it. — Helfaery 10:16, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Also, the discography prior to my edit just said "feat. Ville Valo" for the last two collaborations (Bloodhound Gang and Cradle of Filth), and I couldn't find information on whether it was lead or background vocals, so as of now it just says "vocals"; anyone know for sure? — Helfaery 04:16, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

What about Jonne?

Jonne Aaron, Ville's older brother.

He's mentioned no where in Ville's page.

I would try to add him, but I'm not exactly sure about this.

Jesse Valo is indeed Ville's younger brother; they share last name's.

Jonne's name doesn't match Ville's.

I was wondering if perhaps they're brothers by marriage?

And if anyone has more information on this, it should be put into the page.

--24.92.36.157 05:54, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

mayb they're not related it all and it's a big conspiracy about the end of the world and his Aaron is really the anti-christ ready to send this entire reched world into oblivian and cast our souls into eternal hell..........or mayb they r brothers by marriage idk

What the...? Jonne and Ville are not related to each others. Well, they're both Finns, and that's as close as it gets. Manatar 01:54, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

It's a different Ville. This is the Ville you're thinking of. --FaerytaleMalice 00:51, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Jonne Aaron Liimatainens younger brother is Ville Liimatainen (songer of Flinch) and not Ville Valo! relation between Ville Valo & Jonne Liimatainen: they are finns and Negative (Jonne's band) was opening act during the last HIM-Tour in Germany in February 2006. (joinvalo666)

I just read that Ville married Jonne today (3/17/07). Please tell me that this isn't so. From everything that I have heard about her, and none of it is very good, she's going to make his life a living hell. It had been rumored for awhile that they had gotten back together and were planning to marry, but I was hoping that it was just talk.

Trivia

I'm removing all trivia in three days if no citations can be found. --Liface 01:10, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Reason for No Sleep Til Halloween Tour cancellation correction

According to the band's website, Ville Valo announced the tour's cancellation is due to the band's wish to work on new material and not the result of any injuries. -K http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poets_of_the_Fall

quit being so mean

not to whine or enything, but if you don't like HIM then why did you read the article? was it so you could make rude comments?

Sex change???

Are you serious? Ville Valo is 100% sexy male. I can't believe someone would even ask that...

Ville Valo Biography??

Hey umm... I was wondering are there any biographies in book form (that you could buy from a normal book shop/rent from library or something) that I could obtain? Like, could you tell me titles and authors if there are any? Thanks. 68.108.28.248 04:07, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Apparent Contradiction: HIM origin

Under "The Birth of HIM", stated that HIM originated in 1995. In the HIM page it states the band was formed in 1991HIM_(band). Which is correct? I assume 1991, but don't want to change it unless verified. 68.108.104.183 07:22, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
