  • Support move to Villarreal - I have never heard any other name used to refer to this particular town. – PeeJay 20:10, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I change my mind to Castilian one: Villarreal. Matthew_hk tc 18:37, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Well, it definitely has to be moved to one or the other. I would imagine most English speakers have heard of the town through the football club so I'd edge towards Villarreal. However, if someone can show predominant usage in English of Vila-real I would be convinced otherwise. Knepflerle (talk) 09:37, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Support move to Villarreal. Villarreal is the official Spanish (Castillian) name and Vila-real is the Catalan/Valencian name. I think there are reasons to be a bit careful when moving articles to a regional language, since this basically is a political issue in Spain. See for example Donostia wich is a redirect to San Sebastián. Besides, Villarreal is more common in English. Sebisthlm (talk) 14:10, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Any additional comments:
The near case is Biel/Bienne. Matthew_hk tc 13:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't think it's the same thing. The swiss town is often referred to as Biel/Bienne simultaneously (as well as the hockey and football team). Here, it's a city with an official Spanish name, with a regional Catalan name used by the local population (or parts of it). There are a lot of places which locally spell their name different from the more official name. The issue of regionalism in Spain is also very sensitive, so I think there are good reasons to use the Castillian names with references to the regional names in the article.
