I just rec'd an e-mail from a friend that was about this place, "valley of the immortals" and it is to be located in Vilcabamba. I usually investigate before I forward information and in doing so I came across your page asking for "clean up". This web site where I located the original article of my e-mail may help you. Just a thought. http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,,2143722,00.html Sincerely, Toni Jobin

I am really not sure where to source a citation about the valley's outlawing of gas stations. It's not a formal law but rather an unspoken agreement amongst the people who live in the valley and the companies that operate there. I only know about it because I lived in Vilcabamba for quite some time and asked one of the village elders one day. This is what he told me; he said that the last time PetroEcuador had tried to put in a station, they met with so much protest and sabotage of the project that they left, and that now the unspoken law is that there will be no gas station in the valley.
