Coordinates: 8°40′N 77°20′E / 8.67, 77.33 Vikramasingapuram or Vickramasingapuram is a panchayat town in Tirunelveli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It falls under the Ambasamudram taluk.

It is situated on the banks of river Papanasam. Papanasam 42 km from Tirunelveli. This holy place is on the western ghats of’ Pothigai Hill. It is close to the Papanasam Falls, on the banks of the Thamiraparani River where Siva and Parvathi appeared before the great saint Agasthiya. Hence the falls is popularly called the “Agasthiya Falls”. To commemorate the visit of’ the divine couple, the Agasthiya temple was built there. Papanasam Dam is located 49 km away from Tirunelveli. This is a beautiful picnic spot.The natural beauty of Papanasam a holy place, 42 km west of Tirunelveli is enhanced by the Agasthiyar falls by which the Tamirabarani river descends into the plains. The water drops from a height of 100m over a wall of rock, covered both sides by forested hills of the Western Ghats. The water here is believed to wash away all sins and there is a legend that close to the falls, on the banks of the Tamiraparani river Siva and Parvati appeared before Agasthiya. The Papavinaswehwara temple is situated near the waterfall.

Vikramasingapuram is located at 8.67° N 77.33° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 200 metres (656 feet). It is situated 53 km to the south of Tirunelveli and 9 km from Ambasamudram. It is situated on the banks of river Thamirabarani

As of 2001 India census[3], Vikramasingapuram had a population of 48,101. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Vikramasingapuram has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 85%, and female literacy is 73%. In Vikramasingapuram, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The town is surrounded by green paddy fields. A considerable number of the population in Vickramasingapuram works for Madura coats, a fabric production company.
