[edit] License tagging for Image:Worcester Massachusetts.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Worcester Massachusetts.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:08, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edits to MHS and Montclair articles

The reason why I removed these links is because Wikipedia is not a repository of links. Your link to the rather arbitrary class of 1961 reunion website might be related to the article, but it does not add to the article in any way, especially not the Montclair article. It does not provide useful information that is encyclopedic. Please respond on my talk page instead of emailing so that I can read your message at my leisure. Thanks a lot, JHMM13 04:02, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Please do not continue adding this link to these two articles. It does not add to their encyclopedic value. Further action will be considered vandalism. Thanks, JHMM13 19:47, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Hey, Viking. I've stricken the vandalism reference from my previous message as I assumed you were just ignoring my message and adding it back to the page. This could be partially because I'm so used to dealing with people who do not engage in a dialogue about the issue. I also did not see your message as it was not added to the bottom of my talk page and adding it to the top means I will probably skip over it without noticing the change. This is not your fault, just a habit of mine not to thoroughly check my talk page when it tells me it has changed, but in the future, I request that correspondences go at the bottom so I can see them. Anyway, I am very, very certain that this kind of link is not the type that is generally allowed for inclusion on Wikipedia articles, but if you disagree with me after reading the following links, please feel free to contact User:Gryffindor, a user who is a very capable administrator and could solve this problem for us. Check out this section on what links should be included and note particularly the inclusion of information that is relevant to the article or provides verification for claims (i.e. references). While MHS is notable in that it is a high school, the class of 1961 (and for that matter my class of 2003) is not notable. There is, and should be, no information in the MHS article about these classes and therefore the inclusion of an external link to something that is not mentioned in the article is just link dumping and not wholly useful information. As it stands, Wikipedia is not a repository of links. These policies are in place so that the external links sections do not get out of control. Remember that this is an encyclopedia, not a reunion website. The information in the external links is there to be important information for someone who has never before heard of Montclair High School, not for someone who spent four years there. I hope I've made some sense, and if you have any other questions or comments, please send them my way, or if you feel I'm being unreasonable, please go see User:Gryffindor and ask him his opinion. I promise, he'll assess this in an unbiased way...that's what admins are there for. JHMM13 14:30, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
