Vigas is a fictional serial thief that appeared in the 2004 Punisher MAX Summer Annual by Marvel Comics. He is one of the Punisher's few surviving foes, and it has been speculated that he will return sometime in late 2007 or 2008.[1]

[edit] Fictional character biography

While attempting to burglarize a drug dealer's home, Vigas is caught red-handed by the owner and is forced to defend himself. After a brief shoot-out, the dealer is killed and Vigas decides to flee. While on his way out, he sees a young man experiencing a drug-induced seizure and suffering terrible visions. Feeling that he is doing the merciful thing, Vigas kills him.

After unknowingly hearing a false story from an informant (the brother of the dead drug dealer,) the Punisher (Frank Castle) believes Vigas is a serial killer and proceeds to track him down. Castle has some difficulties following him, as he employs disguises regularly and doesn't appear to keep any regular routines (Vigas explains this makes it harder for the police to find him, already wanted for a string of burglaries.)

After Castle follows Vigas in to the subway system, the two's potential battle is interrupted by the dead dealer's brother and a small band of his friends. Castle and Vigas both battle back against the thugs for mutual survival (though Castle makes it clear he lacks the opportunity to kill Vigas unless he exposes himself to gunfire.) After the remaining thugs are killed, Vigas' first appearance ends in a confrontation of words that makes the Punisher suspect Vigas is something other than a serial killer. Vigas escapes using the New York subway system, ending in an unusual defeat for Castle.

[edit] Powers and abilities

Vigas appears to be an ordinary human (which is likely due to appearing in a Punisher MAX title.) His skills include deception using disguises, a hinted strength in stealthy movement, and undeniable charm (which he uses to talk his way out of trouble on multiple occasions in his first appearance.)
