Wikipedia talk:ViewPOTD

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mission statement: to have POTD content quickly linked to by other webs, without necessarily involving the page viewer in POTD intracacies.

Keep it simple.

I applaud the idea, but how I don't think this is usable - it looks like just another Wiki site with the template. Please add instructions on how to use it on off-wiki sites - maybe I am missing something.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 04:18, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

Its as simple as using the potd template on a blank page. Simply link to "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:ViewPOTD" and send people to the annotated potd. There might be a better way to do this - but I find that this solution works for my application. Ieopo 03:07, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Could you give me an example of the page doing this? Pasting the relevant html code here would make it much simpler for other users.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 04:04, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:ViewPOTD"> LinkTextHere </a>. I think it would also be nifty to treat POTD type templates with unix style arguements, e.g. "Wikipedia:POTD --verbose" or "Wikipedia:POTD -v", to show the annotated picture vs. simple. Currently the difference between POTD/ViewPOTD is the images synergistic mini- article. -ieopo
