[edit] Additional Info on Northern California and North America

Hi Bao, The UVSA of NorCal survive until mid 90's because I went to a few of the joined event and trips by Northern and Southern Cali UVSA... The "MLNT" that you had started as Chiến Dịch Thắp Sáng Niềm Tin (TSNT) and spread to NorCal and around the world. Regarding the Tran Truong event, many of the youth organizations joined force but mainly the Đoàn Thanh Niên Phan Bội Châu that kicked up the largest ralley (Rported by LA Times around 50 thousand VNese)... It formed an organization called Tuổi Trẻ Dán Thân and lasted for around 2 years. The first DHTNSVVNTG in Aus. 1999 was put together by the THSV Lien Bang Uc Chau. The first effort to form the Uninted North America VSA (NAVSA) was two years before the official NAVSA was formed. He was from Oregon but I forgot his name and he contacted me and later Phu map for support. I tried to help for over a year but it didn't happen.

Just some extra info for you Mr. Bao

Interesting. Thanks for your input. So if UVSA did survive until mid 1990s, then what is the Association of Universities and Colleges of the Bay Area? Trinh Minh Dieu-Hien described it in her biography. Were they two separate groups? --Yellowtailshark 21:34, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
So are you saying that MLNT was part of TSNT international movement? I would like to know more about this. --Yellowtailshark 21:34, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Regarding the Tran Truong event, the website stated that the demonstration was organized by MLNT, which was comprised of many youth groups. We have no record of which youth groups were involved, VSA or not. I assumed it was, but perhaps we should not make such an assumption. --Yellowtailshark 21:34, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
Tuổi Trẻ Dán Thân is a group under its parent Đoàn Thanh Niên Phan Bội Châu right? When was TTDT created? --Yellowtailshark 21:34, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
I will take your word for it if you say that the continental organization effort started two years before the actual organization, so around 2002. Phú Mập probably kept the idea in motion, since he was also at VANG. I will ask him about it. --Yellowtailshark 21:41, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dates and Evidence

Mai Hữu Bảo brings up an interesting point in that there is a distinction between the beginning of an effort and a decidedly marked date of an event. The beginning of an effort would require minutes from a meeting, a letter, email, or some sort of record. If such evidence do not exist, we use the date of an event and assume that there was an organizing effort before it. The dates I used are actual publicly announced events. It doesn't take into account the nonpublic activities, which would be useful. --Yellowtailshark 21:19, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wrong Date

Is that a wrong date? there is a date after Huy Ngoc Tran that says 2006-2008... --Hqduong 21:52, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

No it was supposed to indiciate the term date, but I should probably just put 2006-present. --Yellowtailshark 10:19, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

How is it possible for UVSA Southern California to organize their first Tet festival in February 1981 when it only became incorporated in 1982? --Yellowtailshark 00:17, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vietnam Student Association

Wouldn't membership of the Vietnam Student Association in Vietnam make these associations insignificant? DHN 02:40, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it would dwarf the number of student members within the overseas VSAs from a statistical standpoint. But I've yet to find an article describing the Vietnam Student Association at all. So there is a real need for someone to step forward to write such an article, including its structure, goals, history, demographics, etc. I'm not even sure if Vietnam Student Association is really the official English translation of the organization's name either, let alone the other variations of student/youth organizations that exist: Ho Chi Minh Communist Central Youth Union, Vietnam Youth Federation, National Committee on Youth of Vietnam, Vietnam Action Network for Youth, Vietnam National Student Association, etc. Yellowtailshark 13:00, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
