Vidyaranyapura Agrahara, near Sringeri Town is a prominent Brahmin Village on the banks of river Tunga in India. 25 Brahmin families are living since tens of centuries. These families are the important pillars of Sringeri Shankaraacharya’s Mutt since the time of Adi Shankara.
Maha Swamiji Vidyaranya of Sringeri Maha Samathaana who established Vijaya Nagara Empire through his Disciple Krishna Deva Raya( Harihara), hails from this place and a temple of Sri Vidyaranya is built in this Agrahara.
