Vidura College — Colombo is a secondary school in Sri Lanka imparting education in English. The school strives to maintain a balance between the English, Sinhala and Tamil languages and cultures, as well as promoting the national culture, traditions and heritage. The curriculum is built around strict discipline and personality development in demand in the world of work. Thus, the mission of the school is to lead the child to a competitive world of work.

Vidura College — Colombo was inaugurated on 27 January 1999 with the enrollment of six students to the Nursery and Grade 1 classes. Today the college conducts classes up to G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination, with a student population of over 2500. Vidura opened their playground, Cricket practicing nets and Netball court at Thalawathugoda in 2007.[1] At Present, the college operates in houses close to each other in Nawala, and plans to relocate to their Campus at Thalawathugoda by 2009.

The college logo symbolizes the goals envisaged by its founders:
- The Lotus buds symbolize the student of Vidura
- The Lamp symbolizes the knowledge imparted to the student
- The Flame symbolizes the radiance of the student on graduation
- The Pot symbolizes the fullness of personality developed
- The Diamond symbolizes the part played by Vidura in making its work shine with brightness
Vidura means vajra (the diamond).

The school motto "Oneself is one's own protector" is inspired by a saying of the Buddha. The school motto is intended to develop self-esteem and self-reliance as an integral part of the students' personalities.

Took the reins as the first Principal of Vidura College, Colombo, on January 27, 1999. In his capacity as Principal, Mr. Sumanasekera is responsible for the overall management of the school. He is assisted by a Board of Directors comprising of several eminent educationalists and management leaders in Sri Lanka.
As the CEO, his responsibility is to assure sustainable development in the performance of the school and of Shikshana Educational Investments and Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, a company embarking into several other areas of activity in the field of education.
A distinguished old boy of Ananda College Colombo and a graduate of the University of Ceylon (University of Colombo), Mr. Sumanasekera holds a Diploma in Education in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.
He possesses long and wide experience as the Chief Editor of Educational Publications Department, Principal of Nalanda College and Mahanama College in Colombo, Sri Lanka and as Principal of the Sri Lankan International School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and as a Master Teacher at Government Secondary School, Daura, Nigeria.
His experience as an Examiner of the West African Examinations Council and his contribution to the activities of the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka is an asset in preparing students for public examinations. This exposure speaks of the strengths that have gone into the administration of the School.

The management of Vidura College, Colombo, is in the custody of a Board of Directors comprising of several eminent educationalists and management leaders in Sri Lanka.

The School is divided into seven sections:

- High - Grade 9-11
After completing Grade 11 students will sit the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination, Sri Lanka, as Private candidates. Students proceeding further will sit the G.C.E (Advanced Level) Examination, Sri Lanka after compeleting Grade 13. Facilities also be provided for students wishing to sit IGCSE or G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) London Examination.

- Vidura College - Colombo follows the Three-Term calendar as of the State schools in Sri Lanka. The Academic Year begins in January and ends in December with three vacations during April, August & December. Student's progress is evaluated at the end of each Term with Term end Examinations.
- A Parents Day and an Outing are a regular feature at the end of every Term.
- Vidura College Anniversary Day is celebrated every year on the 27th of January.
- A Sports Day is held in the First Term, a Prize Giving Day during the Second Term & an Aesthetic Day during the Third Term.

[edit] Vidura College, Colombo to tour India, 2008
Vidura College under 14 cricket squad will embark on a seven day tour of Chennai, India from April 22 to 29. They are schedule to play four matches. [4] [5] Upali De Silva told the Daily Mirror that the team is a well balanced one and should give the boys a vast amount of experience of playing in a foreign environment. While Pasan Ranasinghe, the skipper said they have reached a high standard in cricket during the last two years and were runners-up at the Invitation Cricket Tournament which was organised by them in 2007.Furthermore, by participating in the CCC School of Cricket Tournament in 2006 and 2007 has boosted their confidence tremendously.
The Team: Pasan Ranasinghe (captain) A versatile all rounder who has scored heavily this season. Last year he won the 'Best Cricketer's Award' at the sports award ceremony of the school last year.
- Kavishka Peiris (vice captain) A left-handed middle order batsman who has scored heavily this season and is also a medium pace bowler.
- Naveen Bandara: Is one of the best right arm off spinners in the school today. He is also a dependable bat and reliable fielder. Won the 'Best Bowlers Award' at last years Invitation Cricket Tournament.
- M.S.D. Kurululasooriya: A hard working cricketer with a bright future as an all rounder.
- M.T. Dahanayake: A much dedicated player who performs well in any department of the game.
- Tilak Bandara: A right arm off spinner and safe batsman.
- C. Peiris: The younger brother of vice captain Kavishka Peiris and a promising all rounder.
- P.I. Rajapaksha: An useful pace bowler who had a big haul of wickets in 2006/07.
- Arosh Martin: A dependable opening batsman who scored heavily in the 2007 season.
- Yasindu Karunarathne: A fair bat and reserve wicket keeper.
- Diluka Ratnayake: A promising player and should be an all rounder of repute.
- Buddika Ariyarathne: An useful all rounder and a left arm leg spinner.
- Venura Gunasekera: A youngster who should be a good all rounder. Bowls right arm leg spin.
- T.S.B. Yatiwella: An all rounder.
- T.D. Ranawala: A medium fast bowler.
- Ishan Totagamuwa: A right arm off spinner and dependable bat.
- Heshan Peiris: A right arm leg spinner

Vidura College Grade 10 ICT team was placed the runners-up in ICT Quiz competition 2007 organized by Wesley College, Colombo. The students were trained by school I.T. Teacher Miss Vathsala Karunanayake.

Vidura College under 13 Cricket team were runners-up in 30-over under 13 Invitation Cricket Tournament played on August 11 and 12, 2007. [6] [7]

Vidura College Athletics captain Setavya Mudalige performed well at the Colombo District Athletic Meet and won the 100 and 200 metre events and made it three wins with victory in the long jump in the under 14 age group and was adjudged the best athlete in the under 14 girls age group. [8]

National Badminton Championship 2003 - Colombo District was held recently at Ananda College Badminton Courts. Shehan Ian Fernando of Vidura College - Colombo was placed the Runner up in Under 11 (boys) event. Shehan represented the Colombo District in the National Championships.
[edit] All Island Badminton Championship, 2002
All Island Inter-school Badminton Championship 2002 was held at Dharmasoka College Badminton Courts, Ambalangoda. This was organized by the Schools Badminton Association. Vidura College Badminton teams represent in under 12 and under 10 tournaments.
- The College under 10 (boys) team won the Division C Championship, while under 12 (boys) team were the Runners up in Division D.
