The Videsha Seva Padakkama(විදේශ සේවා පදක්කම "Foreign Service Medal") medal will be granted to all ranks of the Regular and Volunteer Forces of the Army, Navy and Air Force of the Sri Lanka for active service outside the territorial limits of the Island, given that such service is linked with active service in an overseas military assignment or campaign or in the defense of Sri Lanka or for service connected with military or peace keeping operations conducted under the support of the United Nations Organization as defined in the regulations hereinafter made.
Every recipient of the medal will be eligible to use the post-nominal letters VSP after his name.
