VIDEOTON is a privately owned Hungarian company, Contract Electronics Manufacturer (CEM), the largest independent Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider in the CEE region, in TOP 30 worldwide, TOP 10 in EU according to the latest ranking of MMI. The VIDEOTON CEM/EMS Business unit provides a complete end-to-end solution to its customers for manufacturing, engineering & logistics services.

1938 Establishment of Videoton Company
1955 Manufacturing of the first radio set
1959 Beginning of the standardized production of the black and white TV sets
1962 Beginning of the manufacturing of military defense electronics
1970 Beginning of the standardized production of computer equipment and start of a co-operation with the French BULL and the American DataProducts. More than 500 engineers developed products for them.
1979 VIDEOTON was the first company in Central Europe which worked with the Japanese AKAI.
1988-1990 After the change in the political system the state-owned company lost its markets
1991 In a public competitive bidding three individuals (present topmanagement) and the 'Magyar Hitel Bank Rt.' (Hungarian Credit Bank) acquired the assets of the company.
1992 The new management re-structured Videoton. The new company started to work as a supplier. Consumer electronics, informatics, and automotive industry became its main activities.
1996 The second phase of the privatization: the bank sold its property to the management.
1995-1997 In order to increase its manufacturing capacity VIDEOTON acquired several companies in Hungary (Kaposvár, Jászberény, Törökszentmiklós, Kunhegyes, Salgótarján). Its activity was completed by the manufacturing of household appliances this way.
1998 Videoton changed its strategy, and became a full Contract Manufacturer. Thereafter the company provides full manufacturing service to its partners including technology material procurement and financing and engineering services.
1999 VIDEOTON have been extending its activity outside of Hungary. Having acquired the DZU AD in Bulgaria, the company increased its manufacturing capacity. This was the first step for VIDEOTON to have a regional CEM strategy.
2002 The largest independent EMS company in the CEE region, in TOP 30 worldwide, TOP 10 in EU
