Video Game Outsiders is a video game podcast from the perspective of the average gamer. Hosted by John, Kyle, and Michelle, VGO is aimed more towards the recreational player. Beginning in August of 2005, VGO has interviewed several insiders from EGM and 1up.com. The intro to VGO has Xbox evangelist Major Nelson proclaiming it as his second favorite podcast (the first being his own). Last December, Video Game Outsiders was named podcast of the year by Gamertag Radio during its 2nd Annual Xbox Community Awards show [1].

On February 28, 2007, VGO began broadcasting on All Games Radio. It airs Thursdays at 9:00pm ET.

[edit] The Hosts

  • John Jacobsen

Born and raised in Chicago Illinois, John attended many colleges but never received a single degree. A veteran of the toy & game industry for 6 years, John is currently the Director of Creative Design and Development for an overseas toy & game manufacturer. When he's not traveling to China, or working on the next hot board game, John likes to play games on his Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, and Gamecube.

John's interests include his 1993 Jeep Wrangler with 33" mudders, and filling his iPod with hip indie music. In Chicago, John had two popular bands, Radioslave and The Meshes. As a co-founder of both bands, he played lead guitar and wrote music. With Radioslave, John shared the stage with popular bands such as "Five for Fighting", had their hit song "In The End" played nationally and distributed on a Verbatim MP3.com promo CD, and has met Buddy Guy. John is currently working on his next CD, with his new band, "Social X-Ray". John is also the founder of the popular, and highly imitated, premiere adult Xbox live gaming community, Zero Commit. John currently lives in New England with his beautiful wife and two gorgeous daughters.

  • Kyle Jones

Discovered just outside of Toronto, Ontario, Kyle studied Radio Broadcasting after a failed attempt at studying film. After a few brief jobs in the radio industry, Kyle packed up his microphone and headphones and went off to do... other things. Some of those thing include a cable access cooking show, performing with a mildly successful local band, and writing a few mildly unsuccessful things with...uh... words (a screenplay that didn't get past pre-production and a short story that was taught at a local college for two semesters, if you're keeping score). Aside from video games, Kyle has an affinity for science fiction, comic books and coming up with solo play rules for collectible games.

  • Michelle Madison

Born and raised in coastal Connecticut, Michelle graduated Magna Cum Laude from Sacred Heart University with a degree in Psychology that would put Doctor Phil to shame. She enjoys both creative and comedic writing, and is co-writer of the award winning pop-culture satire webzine pophangover.com. Michelle's favorite toys include her 360, Jeep Wrangler Sport, 10" dildo and ipod Nano. She enjoys traveling and would like to do more of it in the future, but not to any places where she has to get 34 shots first; which means Africa, India, and the Bronx are out of the question. Michelle also has a fondness for dogs, Oakleys, Coldplay concerts, sunning at the beach, and Hot Chocolate.
