[edit] History
The predecessor of Video Art Holland is Chick, a contact magazine issued in the Netherlands in late 1960s. Later the same enterprise also began to publish the pornographic magazine Chick Extreme. Their greatest success was with the magazine Seventeen that was begun to be published in 1979. Its name was reflecting the fact that the preferred models for the magazine were at seventeen years of age or sixteen at youngest. However, as it featured models who were minors as per the legislation of many countries, Seventeen faced difficulty in worldwide distribution. For example, in the U. S., Seventeen materials were prohibited.Seventeen also began to issue other magazines in later years, including Teeners from Holland and Seventeen Special. By the end of 1980s, Seventeen also started to produce videos. Most of Seventeen productions were in the genre of gonzo pornography. However, Seventeen preferred an amateur flair to the pro-am preference of many pornography producers. Often, male performers were real-life boyfriends of models.
By 1990s, Seventeen changed its name to Club Seventeen, an umbrella label for most series. Also, they united various assets that functioned under companies such as Profil and Scala and formed the company Video Art Holland. In those years, they initiated a process of change, featuring models over 18 years of age, occasionally working with "stars" like Silvia Saint, Tiffany Walker and promoting their own star Estonian Kristina Bellanova, creating series exclusively with Russian models like Russian Teens, Russian Delights, Once Upon A Time.
[edit] Characteristics
VAH focuses typically on "natural looking barely legal" models. There is no particular emphasis on heterosexual hardcore pornography, some films and/or magazines may only feature models masturbating, using dildos or having lesbian sex. More "extreme" acts like fisting, various object insertions, etc. are usually assigned to specialised series but urolagnia is a regular theme for many VAH products. VAH may also choose to work with non-Dutch directors like Danish Finn Hansen or Finnish Kullervo Koivisto for some series. The films usually don't have plots but if they have one it tends to be absurd like the ones of the series Teen Town and Teeny Detective (with the character Christian Bogey).
The series that presents the style of VAH best is Excuse Me.... In this pseudo-documentary series, a cameraman named "Horny Harry" interviews some young women on the streets and tries to convince them to perform sexual acts on camera. The sexual acts are usually limited to undressing and masturbation but they may also perform fellatio on Harry, have lesbian sex, and so on. Harry is accompanied by his assistant Wally Richter, a German girl who was featured in the first film of the series. This series is very popular in countries such as Germany.
In most VAH productions, the models are seen wearing the trade mark Club Seventeen headbands or baseball caps and T-shirts, with a Dutch flag shaped as a heart and carrying a golden S for Seventeen. They also often wear colorful socks which they leave on after all their other clothes are removed.
