[edit] Hello

The archiving thing is for USER talk pages, not for article talk pages. Please understand that. Runewiki777 23:07, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but it's for article talk pages as well. Please see WP:TALK. A good article example would be Talk:Ann Coulter, you can imagine how long the talk page would be if it wasn't archived. Videmus Omnia 23:10, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Oh sorry. I didn't realized that. But heres the thing. You archived it wrong. Runewiki777 23:19, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
How so? Videmus Omnia 23:22, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Oh you fixed it! My bad. Sorry. Runewiki777 23:47, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
No sweat - have a good one, and thanks for keeping an eye on things. Videmus Omnia 23:55, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Fullerton

In the light of references for the artist from the Tate Gallery, Channel 4, Saatchi Gallery and NY Times (to mention just the first four I came across), you might want to consider withdrawing the nom to save wasting any more time, and perhaps doing a google search in future.[1] Tyrenius 03:20, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Done. Videmus Omnia 03:21, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging

You are tagging GFDL and Creative Commons images with {{nrd}}. Slow down and pay attention.Ryūlóng (竜龍) 05:24, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the polite heads-up - looking back, I did erroneously tag one image, that was a mistake. Was there more than one?
Just curious, why did you remove the archive code from my talk page? Videmus Omnia 14:18, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Block

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "I was blocked by User:Ryulong for abusing multiple accounts, but haven't done anything abusive or against policy."

Decline reason: "The user is clearly not new, and has admitted using other/previous accounts, but has declined to give details by e-mail, so the situation can't be checked out. SlimVirgin (talk) 22:01, 17 June 2007 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

Y

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Terribly sorry about this.

Request handled by:Ryūlóng (竜龍) 02:24, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Videmus's claim above, he declined to give any details of alternate/previous accounts, or IP addresses. No one has asked for his name. SlimVirgin (talk) 22:10, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I had explained via e-mail that a previous account was linked to my real name and I started a new account under the right to vanish. I was not blocked or banned. Nobody has explained why I was blocked in the first place, much less an indefinite block. Videmus Omnia 22:18, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I respectfully request a review at WP:AN or WP:ANI. Videmus Omnia 22:28, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I have contacted both Ryulong and SlimVirgin by e-mail with either a request for explanation and/or a review of my indefinite block - I've also requested of both that this case be posted at a noticeboard for review. For some reason, both have ignored my e-mails while continuing to edit. I'm just asking for an explanation. Videmus Omnia 01:15, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Do not post logs of any freenode network channel.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 02:52, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Why not? Videmus Omnia 02:53, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
It is Freenode's policy.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 03:03, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Could you point me toward the policy? Thanks... Videmus Omnia 03:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
As you know, you have been unblocked as you requested, and without the blocking administrator pursuing his request for information about your other or prior account(s). Please resume making productive edits to the encyclopedia rather than harass the blocking administrator. Posting the log of your conversation with him, especially after being unblocked, serves no legitimate purpose and will not be permitted. Newyorkbrad 03:11, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Actually, the channel #wikipedia-en-unblock has a notice when joining that those channel logs may be published..."ChanServ* [#wikipedia-en-unblock] Unblock conversation logs may be published" Videmus Omnia 03:13, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I think the intent of that notice is meant more along the lines of "be careful what you say in the channel in terms of private information because someone might log the conversation and publish it," as opposed to "you are free to publish logs of the conversations in here." In any event and more importantly, as I noted above, Ryulong has unblocked you and you are free to continue editing. I sincerely urge you to do so at this point rather than to continue to pursue a now-resolved matter. Regards, Newyorkbrad 03:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
"Logs may be published, although doing so is strongly discouraged."—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 03:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but where are you quoting from? Videmus Omnia 03:20, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

The channel's topic.—Ryūlóng (竜龍) 03:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
You're right, it does say that - my main concern is the incivility I was shown, in the block, and especially in the IRC channel. I'm not really sure what I did to deserve either. Videmus Omnia 03:26, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
This block was reversed after concerns with it were drawn to the blocking administrator's attention. As one of the people who interceded in the matter, I would sincerely urge that you let it drop at this point and resume productive editing. Regards, Newyorkbrad 03:41, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
I understand your point, but my concern is not so much the erroneous block, as the blatantly incivil and arbitrary manner of the blocking admin. I'm not intending to beat a dead horse here, but don't I have any right to call this to someone's attention for review? Videmus Omnia 03:46, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:JeanneHopkinsLucas.JPG

Please see my note at Image:JeanneHopkinsLucas.JPG. You may wish to remove your tag from that page. --Eastmain 05:08, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, definitely a good reason there. Videmus Omnia 05:09, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Katrina Swett, if you're interested.

Please take a look at the COI related to the article. --Flamgirlant 19:09, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Looks like you already found it. You're fast =).--Flamgirlant 19:10, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

That's where I picked up on it, from your notice there - good catch. Videmus Omnia 19:10, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing my tag for "future". I added more content and found cites. Bearian 23:05, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Nice work.... Videmus Omnia 00:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Michael Lucas

Thanks for the semi-protection on Michael Lucas (porn star). Somehow the IPs are still getting through and a BLP violation regarding another individual that I found in the Miscellanea and deleted is being readded as well. Thanks. -Jmh123 23:22, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! -Jmh123 00:30, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
No problem - all I did was post a request at WP:RPP after seeing your report at the noticeboard. Videmus Omnia 00:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Ah ha, I'm slow. The protection hadn't been approved and enacted when I posted here--hence the IPs still at work. I hadn't thought to ask for semi-protection--next time I'll remember. -Jmh123 01:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Max Keiser

Thanks for your note. I am not sure about a possible copyvio, as the user claims to be the creator of the work. What do you think is the copyvio? --Mantanmoreland 16:23, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Uploader claims creation/copyright ownership, but it's obviously a professional-quality portrait of a notable person. Videmus Omnia 16:31, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
Good point.--Mantanmoreland 17:05, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
I tagged the image as possibly unfree. Videmus Omnia 17:08, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scalzi image deletion/removal?

Why? Thanks. -- Metahacker 18:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

I understand that he uploaded it himself, but it's really just a prank image - it doesn't show the reader what he looks like. I think it would be appropriate for his userspace (if he's still active here) but for an article it's unencyclopedic. Just my two cents... Videmus Omnia 18:40, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
I strongly disagree. He did originally upload it and caption it with a truly descriptive sentence, specifically about the photo editing, which is a small but notable part of what he does online. In removing it you not only remove actual information about the article's subject, but also orphan the image so that it appears to be "just" a joke. I will restore the image to the article for now, pending the outcome of the images for deletion, and I hope you will let it stand until this is res resolved. Thanks! -- Karen | Talk | contribs 01:45, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Nice job on obtaining and uploading the "normal" Scalzi image. Thanks! "N" added Scalzi's original summary to the devil image, which I didn't know was still possible, so it's good results all around. By the way my moderated comment was basically a heads up coupled with a "don't swarm Wikipedia about it" caveat. Regards.... Karen | Talk | contribs 03:48, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Cool - I'm a Scalzi fan also and I'm glad it all worked out. Videmus Omnia 03:52, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey!

Thanxs for watching over the pics! I'll add the disputed tag and the reason. Have fun editing and I'll see you around! =) Jumping cheese 07:04, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sofixit!

I've noticed you tagging lots of images as missing a fair use rationale. So fix it! Most of these are relatively easy for anyone, including yourself to leave a rationale for. You could simply add one yourself which would fix the problem. The alternate is to tag the image, notify the uploader, and if the uploader is absentee, an image which is quite possibly legit fair use will get deleted. —dgiestc 22:09, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't mind fixing them if I think they're necessary images. A lot of them are merely decorative - just my opinion. Videmus Omnia 22:11, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re:Cher

You're welcome, no sweat! Go take a wikibreak and have a cocktail or twelve  :-) - eo 23:35, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:JohnnySlut.jpg

Hello. I noticed you have tagged the said photograph with big scary warning message stating that the image "illustrates a subject for which a free image might reasonably be found or created that adequately provides the same information" This is not so. The point of image is to show the look of the person, not the person himself. Since the photo is from 1980's and the demonstrates a look from that time period, free alternative can not be reasonably expected.

Cheers. The Merciful 15:06, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

You're certainly welcome to use the {{Replaceable fair use disputed}} tag on the page if you disagree. Videmus Omnia 15:11, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
I did, altough it seems I could just remove your tag considering you didn't explain on the image's talk page why you don't think the rationale given is not valid. From the tag text:
Tagger: If this image has, at the time of tagging, a rationale explaining why it is irreplaceable, please do not forget to explain on the talk page why you think that rationale is not valid. Tags applied in contravention of this requirement may be removed; if a rationale is added after the tagging, the normal process for disputing a tag should be followed.
The Merciful 15:31, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
OK, thanks - I'll leave a note on the talk page. Videmus Omnia 15:33, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ...

I'm pretty sure its pathetic that you went and checked all my pictures for fair use rationale but I'll do it anyway. -- SilvaStorm

Sorry, wasn't intending to target you in any way - I was just going through the non-free images in the Lost character articles. Videmus Omnia 12:09, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Also, please, please, PLEASE take a second or two to check to see whether an image already has a "Licensing" block that fully explains the fair-use rationale for the image, before you post that huge thread about the lack of a fair-use rationale. All that your warning does is waste the time of the person who already went to the trouble of posting the rationale in a format fully supported and encouraged by Wikipedia. Thank you for taking care about this in the future, so that responsible and careful editors will not be obliged to waste time repeating the work they have already done, when they could be doing something useful for Wikipedia instead. Please do your share by being a fully responsible editor, like the ones whose time is wasted by those warnings. Grimbergfriend 12:50, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but in addition to the image tags, the uploader needs to specify a detailed fair-use rationale for each use of a non-free image that addresses ALL 10 elements of WP:NFCC. This is to protect Wikipedia from claims of copyright infringement. Please see WP:NONFREE. Videmus Omnia 12:53, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
