The Victory class destroyer is a heavy destroyer in the fictional universe of Babylon 5. The Victory class is the descendant of the White Star class starship and is the most powerful starship the Interstellar Alliance has. Two ships were built: the Victory and the Excalibur.

[edit] History
The Victory class destroyer came about from the needs of one man: President John Sheridan, the first president of the Interstellar Alliance. The President believed the new-born alliance needed a large, heavy assault capital ship to replace the smaller White Stars, which made up the bulk of the Alliance fleet, to carry out the Alliance's military operations.
[edit] Design
Designed to have all the strengths of the White Star but none of the weaknesses, the Victory class destroyer was incorporated with the best and newest technologies from both Minbar and Earth plus some Vorlon technology. For a ship of its size, (2,990.31 meters = 1.857 miles) it is fast and maneuverable. The Victory can reach speeds in normal space of 3,000,000 m/s. For defenses, its armor is made of a Plasteel/Poly-Crystalline armor mesh which refracts about 80% of the heat from energy weapons. The Victory's standard firepower is similar to that of a White Star, but it is also equipped with a loose approximation of a Vorlon Star Dreadnought's main armament. This weapon has an upper limit of 42,000 terajoules (10 megatons).
Since the Victory does not have the high energy capacity of a Vorlon ship that the cannon is designed from, firing this weapon will render the ship helpless for a full minute as it regenerates power.
[edit] Known Victory class destroyers
