The season 2004-2005 was the best of his career. In 28 games he scored 13 goals and was remarked by Mihai Stoica, the general manager from Steaua Bucuresti, who obtained his signature and didn’t pay anything for him because was at the end of the contract with Otelul Galati.
[edit] Steaua Bucuresti
His first season for Steaua was a good one and they won the champion title. He played in 22 games and scored five times.
First season in UEFA Cup 2004-2005 was a very good season for his team, after they got out of a group with Standard Liege, Besiktas Istanbul, U.C. Sampdoria and Athletic Bilbao, they succeeded to eliminate in the knock-out stage Valencia CF, the ex-winner of UEFA Cup. Unfortunately they were eliminated in the eighth finals by Villareal CF.

They defeated teams like RC Lens, Heerenveen S.C., Betis Sevilla and Rapid Bucuresti in the quarter finals, their traditional Romanian rival from the internal competition. Steaua played the semifinal but unfortunately lost against Middlesbrough after two dramatic games.
