[edit] Early Life
Victor is the third child of Victor and Hortensia Camarena, mexican immigrants from Leon, Gunajuato. He lived in Norwalk all his life where he began to show a talent in art and music. His first language was Spanish, he learned to speak English through his older sisters and American television. He showed exceptional skills in Language Arts and Science during his academic years having competed in Academic Decathlons for the Norwalk/La Mirada School District. Victor picked up drumming during his Senior year in Norwalk High School, quickly becoming immersed in the instrument and showing a rapid learning curve. Through his first teacher and friend Richard Krizo, he refined his drumming by playing along to Rage Against The Machine, Deftones, and Blink 182 songs. After dropping out of the Art Institute due to a decreasing interest in art as a career, he persued music professionally around 2002.
[edit] Drumming and I Am Ghost
Victor wanted to learn everything there is to know about drumming, from manufacturing to different playing styles. He played the local circuit with friends and found metal drumming to be his forte'. He began working at the custom drum shop Orange County Drum and Percussion in 2005 and learned the craft of making drums. With an extensive knowledge of drumming he decided on a spur to look through Myspace classifieds for bands to join. He found a band called "I Am Ghost" from Long Beach, California which was in need of a drummer.
In winter of 2005, Victor joined post-hardcore band I Am Ghost to play drums. The band signed to Epitaph Records in 2006. I Am Ghost has also had several media mentions in magazines, including a Metal Hammer Interview. They also have been interviewed for several websites, and had their EP reviewed in several UK music magazines. Not only have they had their EP reviewed in Metal Hammer, they've also been included in the publications' Dead Hot 50 Band's of 2006 List.
Victor was let go from the band due to creative differences. Steven Juliano and Victor conflicted with the direction of the band and Victor was let go on the eve of signning to Epitaph Records with a phone call from Kerith. Victor refuses to communicate with his former bandmates, but still remains friends with guitarist Timoteo Rosales III.
[edit] Incarpathia
Victor is currently the drummer for Death Metal/Progressive band Incarpathia. Victor decided prior to joining this project to return to his metal roots. He displays a more refined drumming style more comfortable to his speed and ability.
