Netvouz is a non-commercial social bookmarking site developed in server-side Java and MySQL, as a one-man hobby project by its creator. The name is a porte-manteaux of "internet" and rendez-vous

Contents

[edit] Features

  • Bookmarks can be made public (shared) or private (password-protected)
  • Batch editing: any group of selected bookmarks can be edited simultaneously.
  • Folder hierarchy: the user can sort links in folders, and keeps bookmarks folder hierarchy when importing from a browser.
  • Fast and simple interface.
  • Automatic link checking: the user is alerted of broken links, and the urls of sites that have moved are updated to the redirected ones.
  • Bookmarks can be exported and imported of in both HTML and XML format.

[edit] Limitations

  • No auto-synchronisation: a bookmark in the user's local browser's favorites is not automatically changed in Netvouz as well, or vice-versa.
  • Bookmarked web sites are not cached.
  • Spaces are not allowed in tags: a bookmark tagged "Renaissance art" will be split into two tags "Renaissance" and "art."
  • Limited social interaction: except the latest links being posted on the frontpage, the search box and checking mutually common tags, users have fewer ways of telling and finding interesting bookmarks compared to other sites.
