Talk:Vic Chesnutt

Is he really quadriplegic if he was left with the use of his arms? I was under the impression quadrapaligia leaves one entirely paralyzed (with minimal movement acquired through intense rehabilitation). Perhaps he is really parapaligic?
- Hi, thanks for the comments. I am absolutely unqualified to say! I do know that Chesnutt seems to refer to himself as being a quadriplegic [1]. If that's how he describes himself, then I doubt we should challenge it. Let me know what you think. Christianjb 04:12, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I wondered this too. In concert one can sometimes see he has only partial use of his arms and hands. He strums with a pick attached to a wristguard, and seems to have intermittent control. In the film Speed Racer, his mother recounts his learning to strum and finger chords through force of will. So I believe that's what's up with that.

Hi. As I understand it, being quadraplegic means having severely reduced mobility in all four limbs, not necessarily total paralysis. So quadriplegic would seem correct here.
- See above. He describes himself as quadriplegic. I'm not a medical expert- but I assume he knows what his condition is. I don't want this page to give offense by attempting to diagnose his condition for him!
I added info about his new album, based from info here: http://cstrecords.com/cst046_release_info.html 28/06/07
