AWM Caption: PORT PHILLIP BAY, VIC. ARTIST'S IMPRESSION OF TWO SHIPS OF THE VICTORIAN NAVAL FORCE, CERBERUS (FOREGROUND) AND NELSON. THE ILLUSTRATION DEPICTS THE CERBERUS FLYING THE FLAG OF THE COLONY OF VICTORIA, ADOPTED IN 1870. SHE IS IN HER ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION WITH TWO MASTS AND FLYING DECKS EXTENDED OVER THE TURRETS FOR BOAT STORAGE. THE NELSON IS SHOWN AS SHE APPEARED BEFORE BEING CUT DOWN TO A SINGLE DECKER IN 1878.
