Viacheslav Platonov

Viacheslav Platonov (21 February 1939 – 26 December 2005) was a Russian volleyball player and coach. He coached several clubs, notably Automobilist Leningrad, and achieved major success as a coach of the Russian national men's volleyball team.

His major achievements as a volleyball coach:

• 1996 Olympic Games fourth place
• 1978 and 1982 World Champion
• 1990 World Championship bronze
• 1977, 1981 and 1991 World Cup Winner
• 1985 World Cup runner-up
• 1996 and 1997 World League third place
