Višeslav of Serbia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Višeslav was a Serbian prince who lived from 780 AD to 814 AD. Višeslav was the son of Ratimir.
Višeslav united the various Serbian principalities (kneževine) and tribes of medieval Serbia into one country named Serbia, or Raška, around year 800.
He was the founder of the House of Višeslavić which would rule Serbia alongside the House of Vlastimirović, dynasty of the same blood-line from 780 to 1165 AD. He was succeeded by the Serbian prince Radoslav, whose heir the knez Vlastimir would become the most successful ruler of the early medieval Serbia.
