Please post new messages at the bottom of my talk page. Please use headlines when starting new talk topics. Thank you.
Do's and Don't for new articles
- Don't write an article about yourself, your best friend, your girlfriend, your worst enemy, your favorite garage band, your favorite teacher, or that great little restaurant down the street. None of these are notable and you probably will have difficulty maintaining a NPOV.
- Do remember that notable "someday soon" is not notable now.
- Do use some standard version of English. Hip-hop slang and leetspeak are not appropriate for an encyclopedia.
- Do assert the importance or significance of your subject in the article.
- Don't copy-and-paste text from another webpage. This is a copyright violation and is not permitted on Wikipedia.
- Don't write advertising for a company, product, or person. Spam will be deleted.
- Do remember that you are writing for people who may not know anything about the subject of your article. State the obvious and state it early. Don't wait until the third or fouth (or fifth or sixth) paragraph to tell us that someone is a musician, or a politician, or a scientist. Put it in the first or second sentence.
- Don't write an article to convince the world of your viewpoint. Wikipedia is not a soapbox!

[edit] League of Copyeditors roll call
Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there. The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors. |

[edit] speedys
Irt';s not recommended to place speedies for no content or not context immediately after the article is begun. The one on Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan was [laced literally one minute after the article was started. The guy was working on it, and the speedy has been removed. Wait at least a few minutes if it seems a topic on which it is possible to make a good article. Or Prod. Or leave a warnign, or some advice. DGG (talk) 07:04, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Little context in Category:Rhythm and blues groups
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Rhythm and blues groups, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Rhythm and blues groups is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Rhythm and blues groups, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Sulamith Goldhaber
Hey there. You expanded Sulamith Goldhaber earlier. I've added a bunch more recently and I'm looking for people to give it a once over if they have a second. Since you've previously edited it, I thought you might be willing to copy edit / check it out. Thanks! --Falcorian (talk) 07:08, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Kyle Barnes
