Vettre, Norway

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vettre is a charming coastal village situated on the shores of the Oslo Fjord. It is proximal to Asker Sentrum and not far from Heggedal and also Borgen. The somewhat steep hillsides of Vettre extend into lovely strawberry farms, which the people of Vettre enjoy every summer.

All along these idyllic strawberry farms run the coastal line of Vettre, ending in the peninsula of Konglungen, which has a lot of beautiful homes, including the home of one of Norway's richest people, Kjell Inge Røkke, which is currently being built here. There are many attractions along this coastline, a number of small islands such as Kråka and Bjerkøya may provide a relaxing and soothing environment for those in love with the sea. Beaches and piers used for privately owned boats suit the more homegrown and less adventurous types.

A nature-enthusiast will instantly fall in love with Vettre. If one stand on the top of Vettrekollen (one of the many hillsides in Vettre) the view is glorious and ever changing. A sight beautiful enough to render anyone speechless. There have been reports of sharks, whales and even dolphins in the friendly waters of Vettre’s cost. Other than these exotic species you will find the naval life of Vettre extraordinary. This is manifested by the population’s craze for boats and the local diver’s club.
