Vesterbro is a neighborhood or area in the city district of Århus C located to the west of city centre. The neighborhood is not as old as Midt Byen, the historical centre, since there was'nt much than farms and small houses here before the city walls was tared down back in 1851

Vesterbro is covering a area between the university, Midt Byen, the rail yard bordering Frederiksbjerg, Aabyhøj and Århus V. The area is divided into different areas itself, with diferent names. The is the older part, closests to Midt Byen, with the oldest appartments. Then there is the Botanisk Have, there is the old brewery, there is the hospital to the far west of Vesterbro and then the newest part with buildings under construction.
The inner part of Vesterbro is consisting of Øgadekvarteret (lit. English, "the Island street quarter") where most street are named after different danish islands. The main square, Vesterbro Torv, used to be a market square for pigs and other animals in the 1880s. Now it is proberly bussiest junction in Vesterbro. Half a mile west to Vesterbro Torv is one of the cities most famous landmarks, Den Gamle By.
