[edit] Attendance

The school is the largest junior high in Alberta, with over 900 students at highest enrollment. In the 2006-2007 school year VB had over 900 students, but the amount was cut down due to applicants' giving false addresses to be in district boundaries, automatically being accepted into the school.[citation needed] Currently, there are over 800 students attending Vernon Barford.

[edit] 2007 Graduating Class

The 2007 graduating class was the largest graduating class in school history with over 300 grade nine students.

[edit] Academics

Vernon Barford is a district site for Academic challenge students. As a result, many awards have been won by VB students. This includes math contests (Gauss, Atlantic-Pacific, CNML, Pascal, AMC 8, Edmonton Junior High Math Contest), science club (Virtual Science Fair, Cardboard boat races, Science Olympics), and musical performances by Concert Bands grade 7,8,9, and Jazz/Stage Bands X and Y.

[edit] Extra Curricular

Vernon Barford School prides itself in being balanced with academics and athletics. Their school teams are dubbed the "Blues", the symbol being similar to that of the NHL hockey team St. Louis Blues. The "Blues" logo was designed, acknowledging Mr. Barford's music achievements, with a slanted quarter note, attached with wings, each representing a different aspect of the school. There are a wide range of extracurricular activities in the school including:
