[edit] VPR Classical

VPR broadcasts classical music throughout southeastern Vermont and southwestern New Hampshire. The main station is WNCH (88.1 FM) in Norwich. Translator stations exist in Hanover, NH on 103.9, Manchester on 106.9, Bennington on 93.5, Middlebury on 99.5, Newbury on 99.5, Woodstock on 106.9, Rupert on 93.3, and Bolton on 94.7.

In August 2007, VPR announced the purchase of WAVX Schuyler Falls, New York, that will extend the Classical network into the Plattsburgh/Burlington area. The station changed its call letters to WOXR and signed on its simulcast of VPR Classical at 9:09 AM on August 31. VPR President Mark Vogelzang, when asked about the new call letters' origin, said that they were an "homage" to New York City classical music station WQXR.[1]

In co-ordination with Saint Michael's College, VPR programs certain blocks on the FM frequency of WWPV 88.7 (targeting the Burlington metro area) when Saint Michael's College does not have student-run programming. These VPR slots are collectively known as the "VPR World Channel", which mostly broadcasts BBC World Service programming.
