Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich

Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ) is a public transport operator in the Swiss city of Zurich. VBZ is wholly owned by the city. It operates trams, trolleybuses, buses, two funiculars and a rack railway. All passenger services are operated on behalf of the cantonal public transport authority ZVV (Zürcher Verkehrsverbund).

Besides its public transport activities, VBZ, jointly with the city refuse and recycling department ERZ, operates the cargo tram to collect waste. VBZ also offers various services such as the hire of heritage trams, engineering and repair services using its well-equipped and modern workshops and also transport consulting services.
