Verde Island sits in the Verde Island Passage near Puerto Galera, Mindoro and Batangas, Luzon in The Philippines.
There is a small population on the island (pop=?).
The Verde Island (Isla Verde) Drop Off is a famous dive site and is frequently visited by divers from Batangas and Puerto Galera.
A number of years back (1988?) a small village was created by a European(?) project using energy technologies like solar panels etc for self-sufficiency etc.
The Dona Paz was sunk near here in 1987.
The Segovia's residence was built last year,2007 to be a vacation house for the family. It is now being converted into a resort to cater to the family's friends who might want to rent the house for a few days of fun and relaxation.A lot of dive sites can be located as well as walking trips to show the guests around the island.Guests will be accompanied by appointed locals to go along the tours. The "Pakaskas" is a famous delicacy from the island, its the juice from palm trees and is turned into sweets. You can see the actual cooking of the "Pakaskas" as you go along these tours and admire the beauty of the island. There is also the "Pinindot" which is cooked by the local wives,it really tastes good!!Try it for yourself. The color of the sea around verde island is a spectacular aquamarine, thus the name "Verde (which in spanish means green) Island" and a little further along, the water turns into a very amazing cobbalt blue.If youve never been to "Verde Island" and wants to see for yourself the beauty of not only the island but the hospitality of the people, you can always call...
