[edit] Congratulations

No doubt you'll do well! :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 02:42, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Congratulations, and you're very welcome! It was certainly about time. --Merovingian {T C @} 02:43, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Congratulations on your successful RFA. Also, my apologies for even mentioning the signature thing at all. I suppose I should just stop following that debate, really. --Elkman 02:55, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
    • It's no problem, really. I understand why people were concerned. Thanks again to all of you, and thanks for taking the time to come congratulate me, too. —Cuiviénen 03:03, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Ditto to the heading! Did you somehow manage to hide the "using AWB," or did you do all those thank-you's by hand? Λυδαcιτγ 03:26, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
    • I did it by hand. Even if the message was repeated, the delivery was personal. —Cuiviénen 13:45, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Congrats. DVD+ R/W 03:30, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Good luck, please don't wreck the car on your first night out :-O Cyde↔Weys 03:34, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Well done! Congrats! -- Samir धर्म 07:08, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • good luck :-) --Andeh 08:23, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • congratulations and good adminning. I'm glad the signiture issue finally assumed its true importance - Peripitus (Talk) 08:33, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • Congratulations for becoming administrator. I think you will do fine. It's sudden to become admin by someone's nomination as I mentioned in last week. ^^ *~Daniel~* 18:45, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
  • You're welcome; I noticed later what I knew your name from originally (besides the Gaelic), which was the userbox wars on TfD. You seem to have moderated/matured/discarded that argument, however, so I had no reservations keeping my support in place. Congratulations and good luck with all the new buttons. -- nae'blis (talk) 18:59, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Block of User:Googleyii

You blocked this user for a week. As he was already blocked for a shorter time, the expiry of the shorter block would have cancelled the longer block. To extend a block, you have to unblock and then reblock. (I have just done that for you, see [1]). Happy editing (and blocking) and congratulations on adminship, Kusma (討論) 02:31, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] John-Hedley Desmond Lucy McConnell

I don't think there was a consensus to speedily delete, and I am requesting that you restore the article and let the AfD discussion run its course. The article has significantly changed (improved, I would say) since it was nominated for deletion. Besides, the Canary Islands is significantly underrepresented in Wikipedia. TruthbringerToronto 18:32, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] In the news item

Hi there. About this edit you made to "In the news" - unfortunately it removed the geographical context that this is the US Episcopal Church. Is it possible to change this to US Episcopal Church? See also Template_talk:In_the_news, where someone else has just added a similar comment. Carcharoth 09:52, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Amish

I see and approve of what you're trying to do to explain the Amish/Mormon confusion. The Mormons were "originally exclusive to the USA," but the Amish were NOT. They started in Switzerland and environs in the 1600s or like that (see the article for the facts), then many emigrated to the USA. Then the old world group died out, so they were mainly in the USA. They still are mainly here, but are starting to move into South America and maybe some other places. The Mormons are distributed across the world.

Maybe there's a simple way to describe this, but IMHO "originally exclusive to the USA" isn't it.

[edit] WP:FAP

I noticed you had written a proposal for a Featured article project, well the project was created by another user recently, and it'd be great if you could join. I don't know the 2 groups follow the same principles, but any of your ideas would greatly help the project. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:48, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Texas gubernatorial election, 2006

Good for you, cleaning up the article. All that stuff was inserted by a determined Libertarian edit warrior who pretty much got his way there by sheer force of will and determination. He pretty well drove me and another regular editor there to throw up our hands in frustration. I may be an admin, but I'm a very mild-mannered one, and am not at all the edit warrior personality. The edit warrior has not edited for over a week now, but I would not be surprised to see him return and start this mess all over again. - TexasAndroid 16:37, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I second this - thank you very much for your work. I took a couple weeks off from wiki just because I was tired of dealing with a fight night after night against a fanatic; I like doing my editing in peace with positive collaboration, and I am very grateful that you have helped us all in this endeavor. Thanks, Souperman 08:46, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

To be honest, I didn't realize that it had become such an issue in the article (often, neglected articles get heavy POV added into them), but I'm glad I could be of assistance. Feel free to alert me if the issue comes up again; repeated POV pushing could garner the anon a block. —Cuiviénen 15:00, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

This week Fungus was selected to be improved to featured article status.
Hope you can help…

[edit] August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.
Signed...

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

[edit] Selected anniversaries

Hello, Cuivienen. May I ask that qualifying items on Selected anniversaries templates be kept there and not removed, please ? They can be hidden with HTML codes as backup items for future use (in case another ITN gets featured as an TFA) or immediate use (in case another item gets on ITN, etc.) Many thanks. -- PFHLai 15:47, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Re this edit, BIGGER! I also made it red, lol. I like what Brian said recently on my talk page. "Clearly the solution is to use giant blinking links, and if Mediawiki adds support, a smack upside the head." Larf. --Monotonehell 09:55, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Danks

Hi, please take care of The Danks also -- it's not actually protected yet and is still being vandalized. Thanks, NawlinWiki 17:35, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Never mind, Syrthiss got it. Thanks, NawlinWiki 17:36, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
